The Grey Lady has morphed into the Ignorant Sl*t.
The Old Grey Dinosaur.
“we’re not paying Krugman one penny more...”
The grey lady is now a moribund crone.
As mentioned in related threads, with the exception of the federal entities indicated in the Constitution’s Clauses 16 & 17 of Section 8 of Article I as examples, such entites under the exclusive legislative control of Congress, the states have never delgeated to the feds, via the Constitution, the specific power to establish a national minimium wage. Defining intrastate minimum wage is essentially a 10th Amendment-protected state power.
The reason that we have a federal minimum wage is the following imo. Generations of parents have not been making sure that their children are being taught the federal government’s constitutionally limited powers. And corrupt federal lawmakers have exploited this ignorance by winning votes from low-information citizens with the constitutionally indefensible promise of higher and higher federal minimum wage.
Finally, note that if the states should ultimately decide it best for the feds to establish a national minimum wage then the states can always amend the Constitution to grant Congress the specific power to do so.
