While standing in the symbolic birthplace of the Texas energy industry, Spindletop Boomtown Museum, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) formally announced his American Energy Renaissance Act to help promote energy independence through increased oil and natural gas production with strong limits on federal government interference.
Standing before a group of energy workers and executives, Sen. Cruz began his announcement by saying:
Welcome to Boomtown. This place reminds us of how American entrepreneurs ushered in a new era for America, and for the world. This discovery [oil in Texas] was made at a time when America needed energy to grow and expand. We were developing new tools and new transportation. The energy that began here ushered in a new era in the world.
Today as I travel the state of Texas and I travel the country, Sen. Cruz continued, the number one concern of Americans all over this nation is We want jobs and economic growth back. Under President Obama the country has been mired in stagnation, what I call the Great Stagnation. From 2008 to 2012, our country grew on average, 0.9 percent. We are facing the lowest labor participation rate since 1978. And the people who are hurting the most, under the Obama economy, are the most vulnerable among us.
The legislation being proposed by Sen. Cruz lists the following nine points of attack to rebuild the American energy industry and create high paying, middle class jobs for American workers:
- Expand U.S. Energy Exports
- Open Offshore Exploration
- Broaden Energy Development on Federal Land
- Improve Process to Develop Energy Infrastructure
- Prevent Federal Regulations of Hydraulic Fracturing
- Improve Domestic Refining Capacity
- Stop EPA Overreach and the War on Coal
- Force Congress and the President to Vote on EPA Regulations that Kill Jobs
- Dedicate Additional Revenues to Debt Reduction

Pretty much. Looking at that picture... who in the background has a military background?

To: JRandomFreeper
No idea. What military background does Mr. Obama, Mr. Biden, Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Santorum have?

I was talking about the people behind Senator Cruz. It just jumped out at me.
I don't demand that presidential candidates have a military background. I don't think Ike was that great, for all that he was a 5 star.

Yep, one went after me last night. Rather thin-skinned when you call them out.

I agree with 2nddivvet, I see no requirement for military personal with drillers and miners. However,,,, I DO prefere a military man for president and this POTUS is a damn good reason I feel that way. He probably thinks a 22.250 is a cannon round over a 22 because there are more numbers in the caliber description. BTW Barack Insane Obama IS NOT MY PRESIDENT,,,, maybe he could by my version of that character in "Mad Magazine".

Cruz has many good things to say—he isn’t the answer, nor is Sarah Palin, who also has good answers. They are pointing the way for another, putting in place the foundations of a new Party, the Reformed GOP, Liberty Party or whatever—it is now a movement—but its growing and sweeping the land. The 30 second group thought PR gems are not going to do it—the real world is creeping up and will FORCE Americans to act—no more TV, Video games, Facebook, pseudo-life when the lights go out and the money drys up. Then you will see things worse than anything we have ever seen—it will be like the race riots of old—only when white people riot they will not burn and loot stores—they will loot arsenals, and burn government buildings. Lets hope reforms can be done without violence.
To: SoConPubbie
While I applaud the effort and ideas, can conservative politicians not fall into the inside-the-beltway BS of giving ideas in the form of a doctrine with a silly title?
I don’t need a new “Blah Blah Idea to Make Things Better” with logos and signs and such when The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution work pretty well.
Not dissing Cruz, just cringe at the names of these “programs” and if we even need a “program” to get back to common sense.
