The government is already attempting to control the output. Your proposal relies on the word getting out that it’s happening in a way that Paul Revere would, well, revere.
The spin masters in the police departments would make it sound like they took down a criminal organization with an “arsenal” of “assault weapons” that likely pales in comparison to the stockpiles most FReepers have.
While I agree that firing back is the best solution, liberal activist judges, assuming you make it to the courtroom, would rule that you’re a terrorist, and you’ll end up in a concentration camp or solitary confinement. If everyone who fires back is killed but takes down one or two cops, the media byline would be that “homegrown terrorists” are “taking down cops with lethal efficiency” during raids to try to curtail “drug trafficking.”
I’m completely in tune with what FReepers are saying on this subject, but the realist in me has to believe it’s not going to be that simple. It never goes to plan.
In this day and age that is almost irrelevant. We don't depend on the news for all news anymore. nor do we trust the news. The government would have to bring down the internet if they wanted to keep it quiet, and that would paralyze the economy, and cause even more civil unrest.
I fully believe that Americans will go through a time like Ukraine or Venezuela. But it will happen after all these other countries go first. By the time it happens here, the people will have seen all of the tricks tyrants pull on their people in other countries, and it will happen differently than we expect.
Yes, we are seeing a lot of incrementalism in taking our freedoms. And Americans right now are acting like cowards, because we still have something to lose. But even we can get fed up, and when we snap, there simply aren't enough police, army, courts, or national guard to keep us down. I fully expect a couple of Waco type events, but this time with blowback that the government doesn't anticipate. The guns are important, as we can see in the footage of the unarmed in Ukrane and Venezuela being shot down. But it isn't just a gun issue. It will be massive civil disobediance of all kinds, up to secession movements of states. The police and troops will join the citizens or dissappear. Washington D.C. will become a very small city surrounded by a vast territory it has less control over than Afghanistan.
