In this specific instance, yes I think supporting the “establishment” pick is the smart play, due to Louisiana’s stupid electoral system and the reality of Manses’ level of support. He doesn’t have half a chance of overtaking Cassidy with Hollis splitting the anti-Cassidy Republican vote (if I were you my #1 priority would trying to convince Hollis to drop out).
I realize I’m wasting my time trying to convince you. But believe me unless something major changes all you are accomplishing is giving Mary an extra few weeks to try and lie and cheat her way to victory.
Mary L won the 2002 runoff where she would have lost to a single Republican in November. While I think Cassidy will probably beat her this time, why risk it.
Louisiana conservatives should advocate to a change to closed party primaries and primary runoffs and normal 1 R versus 1 D general elections, this would help elect more conservative Republicans. Witless the recent R versus R special Congressional election where Black democrats helped the more liberal Republican win.
“Witless the recent R versus R special Congressional election where Black democrats helped the more liberal Republican win.”
You were looking for “witness” there; “witless” describes LA conservatives that still believe that a jungle primary is a sound notion. : )
