The Muslims invaded Spain 1300 years ago. They trashed the place and murdered the people who already lived there.
Then, over the course of a few hundred years, the natives got tired of being mistreated. They organized their own forces and kicked the Muslims out. In the process, a whole lot of people lost their lives, on both sides.
