A vast country estate, marble-lined mansions, a private golf course and zoo: the unimaginable luxury of the private residence of departed Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych flung open for all to see.

As parliament voted to oust Yanukovych Saturday and he fled to a pro-Russian bastion in east Ukraine after months of bloody protest again his rule, thousands of Ukrainians wondered awestruck around the breathtaking luxury of his abandoned property some 110 miles from Kiev after it was taken by demonstrators.

"I am in shock," said retired military servicewoman Natalia Rudented, as she looked out over the manicured lawns studded with statues of rabbits and deers.

It wasn’t that huge of a news because something like this was expected. A female journalist who was writing about this place almost got killed two months ago.

There’s people in my own town with more gaudy houses than that

Have to agree, I'll bet we have at least a hundred houses around our little resort area in North Idaho that would make that place below-average.

nope, he thought his name was Kennedy, but couldn’t quite live up to their homes...Just about all the democrats in congress could outdo him. Edwards, Kennedys, Gore, etc. and they were not presidents, just ordinary democrats in congress...

No, four isn't enough.

However, four Mosrites is probably too many.

Mosrite: Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Ramone, John Entwistle, Kurt Cobain.

I've also maxed out on Rickenbackers, unless another good artist's model comes along.

Dang. Now that I’m retired and on a fixed income, unless I hit a big one at the lottery, looks like my dreams of a 360/12 are out the window. Of course there’s always eBAY. LOL!

Sweet guitar, the 360/12. How could we have the 60s without them?

The 370/12 - the model created when Roger McGuinn had Rickenbacker add a third pickup to his 360/12 - is also a sweet guitar.

Go to any us federal politician’s house in America and you’ll find comparable opulence. Maybe not as flashy but they’re all getting rich off the people in one way or another.

Lots of more ordinary tinpot despots have done better.

Yep. I was recall a biogrophy of some African "President" back in the 90s, maybe the Congo, who had over 50 enormous mansions dotted throughout the countryside, each of them fully staffed 24/7 in case he should drop by. Maintaining these were a huge burdon for the povery-stricken nation. Pretty much par for the course for African dictators.
