I’m talking down here in the Permian Basin, in Odessa we have people living in storage unit’s. On the west side of town a man has about a dozen rail car containers he’s midified and is leasing out for 750 a month. It’s getting crazy down here! About 3 years ago my soon to be bride was renting a 1 bedroom apartment in Midland for 425 a month, that same apartment is now going for 1100 a month.

I'm sorry. I carried your mention of North Dakota right on through the end of the sentence.

Yes things are completely crazy up here. It's a tough situation. The work (and weather!) are challenge enough, but when you have to sleep in your truck or in a cold camper or on somebody's couch--no country for old men, right?

This old man is going to stay down here where it’s warm, I’ve done my time. We’ve got 3 ranches with a total of just over 42 sections sitting on top of the Cline Shale here in Howard and Glasscock county, we own the surface and the minerals. We’ll never get it all drilled before I retire. Y’all can keep them winters up there!

Locked out in 80 degree paradise ... I can handle it.

We are back in now. We stayed in Mabantao last night, a tribal area, where it is cool, but with the fan blowing, to keep the Mosquitos away, it was too cold. Hard to believe huh?

With the debt load, college is less and less attractive to kids. That and many are scared away from engineering and other fields because of the work load, lack of prestige compared to say MBA or law, and poor job prospects out of school.

I am happy not to be starting out today.

There are people beyond 3 sigma in every nationality, many have no compassion for people from other areas of the planet.

Low wages Don’t equate to more competitiveness for business or lower prices for the consumer which might seem counter intuitive. Go buy some Nike shoes, an Apple Iphone, or Columbia clothing made in an sweat shop to see that in action.
