Frail Ethel Kennedy attends daughter’s drugged driving trial

A frail Ethel Kennedy showed up at the Westchester County courthouse this morning to support her daughter Kerry Kennedy on the first day of her trial on drugged driving charges.

Ethel Kennedy, the 85-year-old widow of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, was in a wheelchair and accompanied by an unidentified man and woman when she entered the courtroom shortly after 9 a.m.

Kerry Kennedy had hoped to avoid a trial, but her bid to have the case tossed failed last week after a judge denied her motion to have the case dropped because she supposedly took a sleeping pill by accident.

~snip~

Meanwhile, Robert F. “Bobby’’ Kennedy Jr., 60, asked for compassion for his misunderstood sister, a lawyer and professional human-rights activist.

“Kerry’s been instrumental in freeing political prisoners and dissidents from around the globe from imprisonment and torture,” Bobby told The Post’s Andrea Peyser.

He argued that political agitators all over the world could be locked up and tortured if his sister is convicted in Westchester County for being hell on wheels.

Africans might be tormented or killed for being gay, he claimed.

The sense of arrogance and entitlement is astounding with these people.

Even if RFK Jr is right, that his sister has done all this great humanitarian work, that has no bearing on these charges of her driving while impaired.

Why exactly is it important to bring up these other things she is involved in? What am I missing?

My conclusion is that we’re supposed to think the Kennedys are special and exempt from the laws and regulations which little people have to follow. I don’t buy it, RFK Jr.

Your conclusion is correct. The Kennedy family believes that it is royalty.

Nope. Stuff like that keeps Kennedys OUT of court.

Hell, the Kennedy clan practically invented drunk and drugged driving.

Good God, could you imagine having to sit through a court session, hearing Bobby Jr. whine for an hour in that "Pat"-like voice of his?

Beats me. And that is my point - Most people are scratching their heads and asking, “WHO is she?”

“”because she supposedly took a sleeping pill by accident.””

It worked for one of her brothers, didn’t it?

“”””and will be represented by two prominent lawyers: Gerald B. Lefcourt, who has defended clients like the Black Panthers and Abbie Hoffman; and William I. Aronwald, a former prosecutor of Mafia crimes who defended the Scarsdale teacher Carolyn Warmus in the so-called “Fatal Attraction” murder of her lover’s wife.””””

That’s a lot of high powered legal representation for an accidental dose of a sleeping aid...

Africans might be tormented or killed for being gay, he claimed.

They also might be killed for being anything other than a Muslim, wrong tribe, etc.

The Kennedy's if they are America's Royal Family what a joke.

If the Windsor Family did to society what this family did England would not have a Royal Family.

Good Lord. RKJ acts like his sister is being considered for the chair. What is the worst that could happen? A fine and MAYBE 30 days in jail. Lord he is definitely overdoing it.

Looks like neither one can afford a proper hair cut, set and comb-out.

In the cases of wishes for anonimity by the rich, the famous and the frail, there are beauticians that come to a client's house, too.

character witnesses/letters are part of many trials. The law will always be somewhat subjective nomatter what.

Why go to trial? Plead no contest, pay the fine, then shut the he!! up and go away. How hard is that?

Yes, after all, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, etc. are all myths.

Robert should shut up before the judge dies of laughter.
