Past performance is supposed to predict future results. In politics, this should mean that winning over constituents in your home state makes you an immediate national figure, the kind of person who’s talked about as a potential president, and whose every appearance outside the borders of one’s home state sets tongues wagging.

But there is no better argument for tending to your present job than Bobby Jindal. The Republican Governor of Louisiana was heralded as the new face of the party practically since he was first elected in 2007. He flirted with running for president in 2012, and is making all the moves for 2016.
All the moves, that is, except managing his state properly—at least according to Bayou voters. Jindal has a 35/53 approval/disapproval number, putting him 18 points under water, a figure only better than Illinois’ Pat Quinn and Rhode Island’s Lincoln Chafee, who are not seeking re-election.
Back home, Jindal has faced widespread backlash in his own party from lawmakers who either don’t like his tax plans or his education initiatives. According to another recent poll, a majority of Louisiana voters do not want Jindal to seek the presidency in 2016, and he trails former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee in early polls.

One of the problems facing conservatives is that they must clean up past mismanagement (if they really are conservatives), and this is usually painful and unpopular. Populist crooks like Edwin Edwards could promise benefits for everyone whilst looting the state for personal gain, and remain wildly popular. After all, who doesn't like Santa?
And every objective accounting treatment can show that the promised benefits are a Fairy Tale, that such benefits could be promised but not paid. But clean up such a mess and you are the one who took the benefits away for the poor downtrodden teachers.
Remember that true conservatives aren't always going to be about promises and benefits. But who will elect such men? And who will re-elect them once they've done the dirty - but necessary -job?
From what I understood he has done a masterful job addressing their fiscal problems. Which yes, does not win you a lot of popularity contests.
Just a little glimpse into how a Mitt Romney Presidency would have gone.
Gov. Jindal unfortunately is also a rather inept public speaker. But a very bright guy with good ethics and business savvy.

Who says our news media isn’t efficient? Jindal criticizes the president yesterday and his toadies in the media publishes hit pieces today.
I don’t think that Mitt Romney brought financial genius and leadership to Massachusetts, it is why he had to give up running for reelection, left with 34% approval, and lost the seat to the democrats.
Reminiscent of Churchill getting kicked out of office shortly after WW2 ended. Not a total apple2apple comparison, but does say something about the fickleness of the people...which is often driven by the Press which is always driven by the Game Changers.
All that proves is that people in Massachusetts don’t like fiscal sanity any more than those in Louisiana.
According to some accounts, Pat Quinn and Lincoln Chaffee were the most unpopular governors in 2012. Names like Bev Perdue, Rick Scott, Neil Abercrombie, John Kasich, Tom Corbett, and Paul LePage also come up.
Actually, it seems like anybody who really hates a governor comes up with some poll naming that governor the least popular.
No, Romney was just a lousy governor, he didn’t have any accomplishments there, unless you count gay marriage, anti-gun legislation, Romneycare and his pro-gay, pro-abortion work.
Jindal supports immigration reform.

No doubt ! As soon as I saw he got in a dust up with Gov. Gunngrabber (D-CT), er, Molloy, on the White Hut lawn yesterday, I knew he’d be catching flack. He must be flying over the target, as they say :)
But at least he states, "with requirements for border-state governors to verify that the border is secure before the legalization process is complete".
Scott Walker is the only one who has the savvy to take on the tough job and still keep some semblance of popularity,
He is well-suited to be President for precisely this reason...it’s one thing to be right on the issues, but it’s another thing to actually accomplish things once in office. Walker has proven he can do it, and why he is my choice for 2016.
