What If Future GOP Prez Played By Obama Rules? (Good read)
Creators Syndicate ^ | February 26, 2014 | Joseph Farah

Among the many constitutional outrages President Barack Obama has perpetrated on the country is unilaterally amending legislation duly passed by Congress with a stroke of the pen.

He's done it several times now with Obamacare alone, perhaps thinking that since the monstrous law has been dubbed with his name, he has the power to change its terms.

The latest example is his decision to delay for three more years the penalty for employers not complying with the law.

Now think about this. If Obama has the power to delay certain provisions of the law for three years, would his successors not have the power to delay other provisions, or the same provisions, or even enforcement of the entire law for, say, another 50 years?

It would be a quantitative difference, but would it be a qualitative difference?

Somehow, I suspect that those who today wink at the constitutional abuses by Obama would be the very same people screaming at the top of their lungs should a future Republican president try this "stroke-of-the-pen, law-of-the-land" trickery in 2017 or beyond. Do you agree?

But Obama gets away with it.

And Republicans don't even have the courage to play this game. Republican legislators keep telling us there is nothing they can do about Obamacare, unless the American people give them majorities in both houses of Congress and a Republican president. Thus, on what basis are we to empower them? Their word?

Here is the truth to all of the Democrats: a future GOP president WILL do it.

Well, that would be the end of the 'puff piece' and the 'human interest story' on TV, heck, even sports would be held back to highlights...because the alphabet media would be having cartwheeling fits daily, if not hourly, demanding it be done their way, howling about the Constitution, howling about rights, etc.

What If Future GOP Prez Played By Obama Rules?

He/she will almost have to in order to make the necessary course corrections to get the nation headed in a more positive direction.

We are still directly impacted by many of Carter's fiascos -- foreign and domestic. We will have many years of impacts from Obama's. Carter only had one term; Obama has, will have had two terms. The worst could still be yet to come.

I’d like to see a President do to gun laws what 0bama did to the ACA, citing his authority to do based on the precedent that 0bama set with the ACA. Liberal heads would explode in huge numbers.

And Republicans don't even have the courage to play this game.

The Republicans were neutered in 2008 when Team Obama indicated they would throw the Race Card bomb at any opposition, including Hillary Clinton or John McCain. Both Clinton and McCain and the Republicans cowered. The Republicans are still cowering.

“This suggests to me the majority of Republican members either care more about the perks of office that are bestowed upon them by leadership, or they really don’t want to stop borrowing, which will either crash the economy or shut down much of government for good in the near-term future.”

or the NSA has allowed 0bama to ‘get the goods’ on the PUBBIE leadership.

Yep, they’d even give Honey Boo-Boo the boot to put on more ‘investigative’ shows to attack the prez.

Obama has collected so many arbitrary powers, I don't believe the rats will allow another GOP president. We know the GOPE is quite satisfied with the crumbs thrown their way.

In effect what they are saying is “You have to vote us in to see what we’ll do”

Early in Obama's first term, the Republicans were invited to a Healthcare Summit at the White House.

I posted in the LIVE thread that the first GOP member should have stood up and said, "we need a Jobs Creation Summit more than we need a Healthcare Summit," at which point they should have balked: we walk or we talk Jobs Creation.

That would be true both in intent and in reality. We can always not vote them in and see what happens.
