A legal Rocky Mountain high

Marijuana, still illegal under federal law, is now at the center of a thriving industry that’s attracting a new breed of entrepreneurs, as Colorado becomes the first state to allow the sale of pot for recreational use.

Colorado made history as the first state in the U.S. to legalize marijuana for recreational use. NBC News correspondent Harry Smith tells the story behind this stunning development, which has been called one of the great social experiments of the next century.

Premieres Wednesday, February 26th at 10p on CNBC TV

“Because every “normal person” is pro-weed...”

No, but every decent person should be against the pointless prohibition. It has resulted in NOTHING but wasted tax dollars and ever-increasing abuses of our rights.

Creating stores and allowing sales is debatable but you will NEVER stop people from growing a houseplant. Anyone who wants to smoke it will ALWAYS be able to smoke it.

I'm just sick of cops having the power to point guns at us while breaking down our doors, taking "undocumented" cash, invading our privacy and searching body cavities over suspicion of possessing some stupid plant that a 10yo kid can grow.

Drugs can also be easily planted and it creates an easy way to imprison anyone at will. The only witness needed is a cop that pulls a mysterious palm-sized baggy from your back pocket. Heck, some of the boys can even put on a good show for the camera. And if you complain, it's cavity search time. The camera says you're a dope dealer and the jury will enjoy watching your rape. Especially if the hero cops "find" some more drugs in your butt.

Newsflash : Children grow up !.....

By youth I mean early teens thru 20 somethings : it is devastating , in subtle ways . Most don’t even notice it .
Ask any young pot smoker who they vote for and why ? I challenge you . Very very few will give you an intelligent and informed answer . This is a major reason why America is going precipitously downhill , it is literally going to pot .
And all the various nutball ideas and behaviors that come with it .

Not always the case, many times it was the smokers
who were first cause they were freaking out. It was
generally the alcoholics who were the last to show.

“Is it now legal to grow it in Colorado?”

Under state law it is. But not under federal law. However, a few years ago obama announced that he would ignore his sworn oath of office to uphold the U.S. Constitution and the laws of our land and order the federal organs under his control to NOT enforce the federal marijuana laws.

“I heard the Girl Scouts set up a cookie stand outside one of the marijuana shops ...”

Yeah, they have a new pot-cookie formulation they’re selling now in Colorado.

“Can you grow your own and skip paying the head shops?”

Yes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_policy_of_Colorado

Since the enactment of Colorado Amendment 64, adults aged 21 or older can grow up to six cannabis plants (with no more than half being mature flowering plants), privately in a locked space, legally possess all cannabis from the plants they grow (as long as it stays where it was grown),[1] legally possess up to one ounce of cannabis while traveling,[2] and give as a gift up to one ounce to other citizens 21 years of age or older.[3]

I told some friends of mine that if he kept that promise it would be the first one. 0buttcrack didn't disappoint me. Two years later his AG, Eric the "Red," announced that the DoJ would be cracking down on CA pot shops. lol

Under the Constitution, the federal government has no authority in the states. Colorado has basically told the feds to pack sand.

I'm not pro any of those things. I'm simply against the way we have been dealing with them. The only result from the WOD has been the loss of our tax dollars and rights. We have given the government fascist power over us to fight an unwinnable war against houseplants and chemicals that any idiot can make.

When a cop like this plants some coke on you to get promoted, you might start to care. He threatened to out the entire NYPD but quickly shut his mouth.

I guess until it happens to you, it's just someone else’s freedom.
