But the state is kinda screwed as there has been in place no law requiring people who have at one time owned firearms to report their sale or loss to the government. So the state, if they’re sending these to everyone they THINK owns an EBR, is intimidating people they’re GUESSING are required by the law to register.

Now another article I read said this applied to people who applied for registration and were refused. That’s different, it’s going to be pretty hard to claim you just filled out an application (and probably paid a fee) to register a weapon you don’t possess. (So they’re actually being punished for attempting to comply. Not a good incentive for the state to create.)

Isn’t it settled by SCOTUS that felons are not required to register firearms because they would incriminate themselves?
