GRAFENWÖHR, Germany -- Less than a year after they left European soil, American tanks have returned to military bases in Germany where they had been a heavy presence since World War II.
In April last year, the last Abrams tanks left Germany, coinciding with a drawdown of U.S. forces that saw the inactivation of two infantry brigades -- the 170th and 172nd. Now, it appears that chapter of history may have been closed a bit prematurely.

Its just a battalion set of prepositioned equipment.
A battalion in Europe is as token a token force can be.
Cavalry Ho!
The M-1’s are being returned only for units visiting Germany to train on at Graf and Vilseck. they are NOT going to be used to equip the two remaining brigades, one airborne and the other, at Graf which has Stryker infantry fighting vehicles (i.e. armored cars). Sorry I’m an old cav guy who had M-60A2s, M-60A3s, M-113s and ITVs. And M-109A2s as artillery support.
Indeed sir. When the field music arrives, that’s when it’s serious.
The current american tank force are not “TIGERS” they are “PUSSYS”..
God knows the gender sitting next to you..
Feminist A-10 pilots are not as “Butch” as they may appear..
An assault on Gomorrah would be like a San Fransicko gay parade..
And on Sodom a sex party..
An a 10 would be so much fun to fly and strafe chit wiff
Those “armored cars” can do a lot more damage to a heavy unit than you think. While I’d rather be backed up by MBTs, you could do a lot worse than the Strykers.
M-60s and M-113 ACAVs, 1/1 CAV Americal, RVN I Corps ‘68-69.
Hand Salute, sir.
And salute back to you!
And Jeeps. And was it M106 Mortar tracks?
Let Russia have it.
And M-577 command carriers, plus the “ever popular” Gamma Goat and deuce & a half
Woo-Hoo, spent many moons at Graf in the late 70’s, remember Hardstands 1,2 and 3? I was in the field artillery FDC, Fire For Effect!
Not so much as Tac 3, Tac 5, Pap South FO points after I became a recon Sgt/FO. And also did it off of an M-60A2 experimenting with the FIST concept. Because I FO’ed off a tank I went to 2 years of gunnery at Graf and maneuvers at Hohenfels. plus Wild Chicken thrown in.
And the M551 Sheridan.
Remember the FADAC computer? LOL, we used to manually compute quicker than it.
Gamma Goats...ugh.
Oh yes, Freddy FADAC. And doing Met +VE and nuke mission calculations. I was with 2-27 FA in Friedberg, 3rd Bde, 3rd Armored Division. and FO’ed for 1-32 Armor “Bandits.” Also known as Elvis Presley’s unit.
