I have no problem with the Russians dividing Ukraine . It’s big . There should be a East Ukraine and a West Ukraine . Calmly divided and an open and easy process for folks in one side to migrate peacefully to the other , with all their possessions and with possible property swaps and so forth .
If Putin can pull this off without a lot of bloodshed , it would be amazing .

Russian gas pipelines run through both Eastern and Western Ukraine. That complicates things.

I read somewhere that historians and anthropologists had determined the the breakup of Czechoslovakia was the first time in the 6000+ years of recorded human history that a country of any significance had split up amicably, peacefully, and without any animosity. This was fairly mind-boggling.
