How I became a feminist apostate by Stephanie Janiczek

Feminism is a scam. I don’t know when I realized that, but I know I was a teenager.

The older women around me did not make any sense when they raged against men, talked proudly of getting tear gassed at Vietnam protests, and celebrated abortion on demand. They seemed to me to be utterly miserable.

If I asked questions or stated an opinion that was contrary they would bully me into silence. That was my first experience with the so-called sisterhood.

There were moments that defined my agnosticism. There was a woman who did a show on NPR that would end her show with the declaration, “men are scum.” That always puzzled me because none of the men in my family were scum.

Sure, I knew men who were awful. Human beings can be awful. But the generalization that “men are scum” seemed so ridiculous to my young ears.

Being a girl who was allowed by my parents to question everything, I questioned that reasoning. I had yet to spend any time in a logic class or learn about Aristotle, but blanket statements seemed to me fallacious, shallow, and wrong.

Feminists also love euphemisms. The word ‘fetus’ is used in place of ‘unborn baby’ for a reason. That is interesting because fetus means “little one” in Latin.

Feminists, like other radical leftists, rely on the ignorance of their supporters and using words that have meanings that are not clear, which helps forward the lie that an unborn baby is not really human. Denying the basic humanity of a child growing in a mother’s womb is how they rationalize killing in-utero babies. There are many feminists who regard unborn children as parasites.

Abortion is not merely an attack on child bearing, it is an attack on motherhood. Being a mother is what we are meant to do, and yet the women who support abortion and call an unborn child a parasite attack the natural inclination of the female to be a mother.

One has to ask the question, are these women angry about being women? Feminism has become a religion of selfishness and denial. The self hatred of feminists for their femininity is mind boggling. I remember asking myself when abortion and motherhood came up as topics what these women around me were really saying about themselves.

And what of the idea that these women are “pro-choice”. If a young girl gets pregnant they say she has a choice. The choices are to keep the baby and accept the natural order of life as a mother, to have the baby adopted by a family that could grant the baby a better life than a young girl’s own circumstances could, or kill the baby. Feminists are not pro-choice. If they were they would be sure all girls walking into a Planned Parenthood clinic would be counseled about these choices. They only advocate abortion.

Take this quote by Barbara Ehrenreich for instance, “Frankly, I adore your catchy slogan “adoption, not abortion,” although no one has been able to figure out, even with expert counseling, how to use adoption as a method of birth control, or at what time of the month it is most effective.” Ehrenreich is not only attacking choice, she is mocking motherhood and family. She is mocking what she says she advocates, choice.

The question no one has ever answered is why these women are such advocates of killing babies in-utero and lying about it. Bill Clinton himself paid lip service to abortion needing to be rare as has his wife, Hillary. However they do not champion adoption, or abstinence. They champion, through misleading statements, abortion and only abortion.

What one learns is that any time the phrase pro-choice is made or a person defines themselves as being pro-choice that the person should be carefully considered as either not knowing what they really stand for, which is abortion on demand for any reason, or that they are hiding their true ideology which again is abortion on demand for any reason with no option.

Birth control is another topic that is fiercely defended by radical feminists. It has come to light lately that a lot of medications are actually harmful to women. However, these women at Planned Parenthood who champion access to these medications for all women will never utter a word about health concerns.

The rate of cervical cancer for women who have been using what we have always referred to as “the pill” is very high. This could be because of the pill itself or the fact that artificial birth control has created an environment where sexual promiscuity is rampant. Cervical cancer is caused by a sexually transmitted disease called the Human Papilloma Virus. It might not be the pill directly but the so called “protection” it offers against conception has caused many girls to disregard their dignity and morality.

Which leads to this question: Has the pill and birth control in general been good for women? Or has it created a culture where sexuality and promiscuity have taken the place of decency, virtue and morality? How has it evened the playing field with men as feminists like to brag when it has reduced many women to sexual objects with zero control over themselves and lost respect with their male counterparts? Feminists have objectified themselves with no help at all from the men that they attacked for objectifying women.

Then there is the attack on men. I remember once discussing Bill Clinton’s behavior with Monica Lewinsky with the biggest radical feminist I knew said and I quote that she “would have done the same thing to him that Monica did”. The woman who was arguing with her was also a radical feminist but at the time she realized what Clinton was which is a predator. I was shocked but in looking back I am not anymore. Gloria Steinem and Susan Falludi both raced to defend their champion of feminism and abortion by explaining that there was no inconsistency with their defesne of Clinton and their condemnation of Bob Packwood and Clarence Thomas.

But a woman who is slowly becoming a feminist apostate has to hear the words that I heard in person in order to understand the real hypocrisy of radical feminism. These are women who celebrate little boys even when that little boy is 50 years old. What they fear is the father, the good husband, the bread winner.

I started to realize then in 1998 that in the radical feminist world, up was down and down was up. Radical feminists feared men who actually behaved like grown up men who could take care of them and their families. They feared real masculinity.

When Sarah Palin arrived on the national scene in 2008, exactly 10 years after the Bill and Monica show was launched, she was immediately attacked. If it was not for having a Downs Syndrome baby it was for her marriage, her job, her family, and even her hobbies. Here is a woman who does have it all and yet “comic” Kathy Griffen, and throngs of other foaming at the mouth feminists attack her for being ideologically opposed to everything they stand for. I noticed something about these women then, most were single, and miserable. Griffin is vulgar, not funny and makes a living by viciously attacking a woman she never even took the time to learn about. Palin ever the cool, calm example of wife/mom/icon lets these mendacious attacks slide off of her like they were nothing. What I learned from watching her is this, true feminism is being a woman who accepts who and what she is and embraces what God has given her fully. Gloria Steinem is no longer the yardstick young girls should idolize. Margaret Thatcher famously said “I owe nothing to women’s lib.” and Palin like Lady Thatcher did before her without the blessing of the feminist high priestess’ made her own life her own way and they cannot forgive her.

Being an apostate to feminism is liberating. Do we really need these unhappy bigoted women who embrace such crazies as Wendy Davis leading us? Do we really need leaders? Are we not women now capable of making our own lives without the constant hate filled chirping of the women’s studies departments at all of our universities screaming “patriarchy”? Do we need the aging and graceless Gloria Steinem still ranting the old clichés from the 70′s? Young girls do not need feminists anymore and we did not need them before either. We can vote and we earn the same amount of money men do. We can work and be parents. We can be stay at home wives and mothers. We can even choose not to be married or have kids. That didn’t come from some crazy woman standing at podium screaming about abortion. That came from our own mothers and grandmothers who worked, raised us and helped our fathers and grandfathers build our country. These were women of substance and they are whom we should honor.

I am not sorry for never taking part in the radical feminist parade. I am not sorry for honoring my father and listening to his wisdom rather than the rants of women who were truly pathetic. I am not sorry for knowing all men are not scum. Not all women are good, and if what constitutes a real woman is the radical feminist view, then I will gladly be an apostate.

I’ll just bet the governor limited women’s access to sex education. What a crock!
