I wonder if whether or not kids become messed up when they realize that they are viewed as a charitable burden, a DUTY that has to be suffered until they are old enough to be thrown out on their own. Being a responsibility, not a welcomed addition. Or a reason someone gets something (like money from the state), not as someone who is gladly welcomed in and no one profits from it.
It’s no wonder foster kids end up messed up.
Instability is a big problem, too. It seems as if, just when foster children get settled in somewhere, the birth mother gets off drugs for a while, and then a judge orders the kids back to her, until the next time she’s arrested.
