What exactly do people expect Obama to do ? Engage in a military confrontation with Russia, a nuclear power, in its own backyard ? NATO could barely handle Libya without the U.S.

This is Putin’s favorite pretext - a pro Moscow local leader asks for “fraternal assistance” and Moscow obliges.
Today the Kremlin is doing it is not for Communist ideology but out of good fashioned national pride.
And with a 70% approval rating in Russia, Putin can do whatever he wants coming off a very successful Olympics. That’s why he’s such a masterful politician.
Maybe they should just politely ask the people that are burning down their cities and assaulting peace officers to behave. Using force to control violent people seems so violent.
That’s not an answer. What should he do ? You can’t be suggesting he start a war over something that doesn’t matter to the US but is a vital piece to Russia’s geopolitical interest. Russia isn’t going to back down, they can’t. US citizens could care less about Ukraine if it comes down to affecting them.
