This affair is probably the most perfect "None of the USA's Business" scenario imaginable. It is impossible to identify the good guys, impossible to support them militarily or logistically even if we could, and McCain wants in - a priori evidence that we should stay out. :)

I just don’t know enough about Ukraine to know who the good guys are, and I don’t know people from there. I suppose there were some Nazi collaborators back in WWII. But there also had to be a lot of anti-communist sentiment, too, with all the people who starved, suffered during Stalin’s collectivization. Probably a lot of anti-Semitism since many of the communists on the local committees were Jews. I just don’t know the dynamics here in this current upset. I get a suspicion that these protests were agitated.
