“Pretty brilliant. Like letting the Soviets shed most of the blood for the allies, in WWII.” Letting? Like we could have done something about that? Like change geography perhaps? Or stop Stalin from squandering his soldier’s lives by refusing to allow strategic withdrawals? The truth is, despite Russian propaganda to the contrary, roughly half the German military was deployed against the US and Britain from 1942 onward. And as Patton noted, nobody ever won a war by dying for their country, and we did as much to make the poor dumb bastards die for their country as Russia did.

Heck, the Soviets STARTED the war when they agreed with Hitler to carve up Poland.

To be honest Poland was in game too, teaming with Germans to carve Czechs earlier.
