Putin must have been holding the phone away from his ear, only bringing it close to interject an occasional “Yes!” or “I see!” The frustration of having to listen to this call must have been excruciating. Like having to listen to a call from a charity you don’t support or a salesman, just waiting for the first moment it could be deemed polite to disengage from the conversation and hang up.
I’d love to see a SNL sketch: split screen of Hussein yacking while being posed like a male model for publicity pics on his end — while Putin cradles the phone on his shoulder (making an occasional grunt) and assembles a machine gun from odds and ends he fishes off of shelves in his garage.
