A proper response, at this point, would be to send warships offshore of every Russian interest in this hemisphere - starting with Cuba.

Ukraine had a press conference at the UN and almost nobody showed up.

I guess this story isn’t nearly as important as gays in Uganda or something

Well, we all know THAT isn’t going to happen, not with this pansy brigade in the White House.

Russian army will take Crimea with no resistance. fait accompli

Past that, it is anybody’s guess.

The mock insulted reaction to Obozo’s “warning” tells me that Vlad will take the whole thing.

If so, it will be a bloody sob.

It would be better if he took the Crimea and talked to those left before crushing.

He knows the US under Obama will do nothing. Nor will the EU.

This is an Obama Putin Kabuki Dance.

Along with your suggestion I would impose a no fly zone over Syria, green light an Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, and have the Ukrainian army close Russia’s pipelines to the Black Sea. Hit Putin in the wallet.

There are thousands of US citizens in Ukraine. Putin isn’t the only one who can play the just protecting our citizens card.

It wouldn’t surprise me to some significant NATO ground troops now based inside former FSU countries. This could end up backfiring on Putin if it wakes up the sleeping EU.

Vlad will not have the song written in German. It will be in Cyrillic alphabet and sang in Russian.

LOL! You have forgotten who is president, obviously.

We have a major US airbase just 90 minutes from Sevastopol. A Reagan-like Prez would have already had a “humanitarian Mission” on the ground at the airport when the Russians arrived. But alas, the sheeple were told to vote for handouts, instead.

Geron, just curious about something. In reading this dispatch am sensing a setup with a trap implications. Do you see similar or am I reading this dispatch incorrectly? And as always could be misinformation related to fog. Looks patently obvious though as calling for a setup with a trap implications but cannot understand why so blatant in the wording unless is misinformation. Any thoughts?

I don't expect to see German troops make any great movement to the East.

After this adventure by Putin I could see a major new NATO command in the Baltics involving Germany. Having a large NATO force boots on the ground in the FSU would be a slap right back at Putin. I know Lithuania would roll out the blue carpet for it.

Putin is close to pulling the pin here. I think he will stop with the Crimea and try to destabilize the rest of Ukraine.
