Ukraine Braces for War With Russia

KIEV — Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded and won his parliament's approval on Saturday to invade Ukraine, where the new government warned of war, put its troops on high alert and appealed to NATO for help.

Putin's open assertion of the right to send troops to a country of 46 million people on the ramparts of central Europe creates the biggest confrontation between Russia and the West since the Cold War.

Troops with no insignia on their uniforms but clearly Russian — some in vehicles with Russian number plates - have already seized Crimea, an isolated peninsula in the Black Sea where Moscow has a large military presence in the headquarters of its Black Sea Fleet. Kiev's new authorities have been powerless to stop them.

The United States said Russia was in clear violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and called on Moscow to withdraw its forces back to bases in Crimea. It also urged the deployment of international monitors to Ukraine.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatseniuk, leading a government that took power after Moscow's ally Viktor Yanukovich fled a week ago, said Russian military action "would be the beginning of war and the end of any relations between Ukraine and Russia".

Acting President Oleksander Turchinov ordered troops to be placed on high combat alert. Foreign Minister Andriy Deshchytsya said he had met European and U.S. officials and sent a request to NATO to "examine all possibilities to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine".

I will be very, very surprised if this is still going on in a week.

The Russians expected a short war in Afghanistan. They were wrong.

Well, as they say, that's why they play the games.

I may be wrong, of course.

> It is not our war. Period.

But it’s Soros’ (the true Anti-Christ) war and his puppet has to do what he’s told.

Exactly.

Soros and his anti-Christian friends want a repeat of WWII with another 30 million Christian brothers and sisters killed.

I’m sure the illegal alien at the white hut is plotting on how to accomplish this.

He’s not plotting anything; effective plotting requires competence.

He’s just doing what he’s told.

Enthusiastically doing what he’s told.

Can’t imagine that Putin will launch a major attack on western Ukraine.

Depends on if he wants Poland or not. Moving into Western Ukraine will cause a massive refugee movement into Poland. That would cause the polish to enter the situation.

And so ends the idiotic American “neo-conservative” pipe-dream in Eastern Europe.

Tune in next week...I'm sure they'll be back at it again. Like termites.

“Ukraine Braces for War With Russia”

Tough luck, Kiev putschists!

Breaking news for you:

The Ukrainian Air Force 240th tactical aviation brigade based near Sevastopol has pledged allegiance to the authorities of Crimea Autonomous Republic. It is manned by more than 800 troops and has almost 50 planes. Belbek Airport hosts 45 MiG-29 fighter jets.

Among others pledging allegiance to Crimea is Rear admiral Denis Berezovsky, who was appointed by Kiev last week as chief of the Ukrainian Navy, but swore to serve the people of Crimea on Monday.

Crimea’s deputy prime minister, Rustam Temirgaliev, announced that the Ukrainian armed forces have all but surrendered their military capabilities and that no active units remain in Crimea.

“I believe that this day will go down in history of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea as the day that all law enforcement agencies were established in the autonomy,” the region’s Prime Minister Sergey Aksyonov announced.
