The current strategy for unpopular Dems includes funding a libertarian to bleed Republican votes and win with a Clintonian plurality.

It worked well in Indiana in 2012, the libertarian got 6% of the vote and Obama Joe Donnelly won. In the Virginia governor race in 2013 the libertarian got 6.5% and McAwful won.
