Actor Matthew McConaughey Thanks God First For Oscar Win

In case you missed it last night, Matthew McConaughey won the Oscar for best actor as a result of his work in "Dallas Buyer's Club." To kick off his acceptance speech, McConaughey thanked God for the blessings in his life and then he thanked his family.

"First off I want to thank God, because he's the one I look up to, he's graced my life with opportunities that I know are not of my hand or any other human kind. He has shown me that it's a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates. In the words of the late (British actor) Charlie Laughton, who said, 'When you got God you got a friend and that friend is you.'"

Audie’s compassionate acting skills were truly resonated with veterans who understood conflict.

He rescues kitties:

“McConaughey started the just keep livin foundation, which is “dedicated to helping teenage kids lead active lives and make healthy choices to become great men and women”.[38] He also rescued various pets stranded after the flooding of New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina.[39] In 2006, he rescued a cat from two youths in Sherman Oaks, California; the youths had doused the cat in hairspray and were attempting to set it on fire.”

Don’t be thick, you realize it was a commentary on how shallow people can be. Some flake actor of bad movies said “God” on television and people act like he must be a good Christian.

Have they even read a description of his last movie? lol

It is -- and you just proved it.

I couldn't care less about his movies. I also don't pretend to know if he is a Christian, or not.

And I didn't accuse him of taking a couple of hookers to the after-party orgy without proof.

Are you a good Christian?

I missed seeing him win last night but he’s become my favorite actor. I recently saw him in The Lake House, We Are Marshall and A Time To Kill.

I liked his looks better before he got thinner and flattened down his hair though.

No. It's a great movie through and through. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I don't remember any gratuitous sex or violence.

A very interesting plot that could have ended in a bad way, but surprisingly didn't.

I don’t think the point is to prove McConaughey a hypocrite, it’s that he thanked God in the midst of the Sodomite Palace and put them on notice of God’s grace.

“I’m surprised they didn’t cut it out of the broadcast.”

I’ve scanned two print newspapers and several online articles about the Oscars today looking to see if McConughey winning best actor was mentioned. Nope.

At the moment he said the word “you,” he pointed at the audience. I took it to mean that if you have God, then you will be a good person that everyone will want to be friends with.

True.

The word 'God' is meaningless to these people since they just let it mean whatever they want it to mean, not the Creator God with absolute standards.

He’s no idiot. He knew this would aggravate the Hollywood Leftists. For that alone, I’m pleased. But that’s not to say his intentions were other than to express gratitude.

“That sounds like New Age babble! “

Very true. But that is one heck of a leap for Hollyweird.
