Europe is not going to produce their own oil and natural gas and are therefore at the mercy if Puten.
It’s simply a matter of economic dependency and the Kremlin knows what they’ve created

Guardian:

Key event
A European diplomat tells Guardian Washington correspondent Paul Lewis (@PaulLewis) that there may be some daylight between the US thinking on sanctions and the EU version. “I expect we will not be 100% in line with the suggestions made by the US so far in relation to sanctions,” the source said:

In the EU there are all sorts of different views about how the problem should be tackled. We might be of the opinion that in order to keep talks with Russian open, we should not yet resort to sanctions at such an early stage.”

The source added that the consequences of imposing sanctions are less severe for the US than in the EU, which is significantly more reliant upon Russian trade and gas exports. Japan, a key member of the G8 group of western nations, is also believed to be anxious about punitive measures that could harm the wider global economy.

So if Japan is concerned and china is putting pressure on Japan and were borrowing money from China but Japan is dependant on US for military this is one heck of a mess. Much too complicated for the Pickle King who knows a lot about Vietnam

C’mon, if what you say is true the French could’ve taken Germany by themselves. It’s not like the UK was holding a gun to their head and, to put things into perspective, the BEF was 1/10th of the Allied force during the battle of France and under French command orders. Ironically the French had better tanks and more divisions than the Germans but woeful tactics, but then the same could have been said about British tactics of the time and US as well.

If the German divisions had poured over the Canadian border in 1939 we’d be holding this conversation in German, at that time the US military was a basket case.

Any road, Germany wasn’t prepared to go to war in 36 so it wouldn’t have, and in 39 it was still 4-5 years away from a new European let alone all out global war. Poland forced their hand.
