He was not impeached under the Ukrainian Constitution. There are very limited grounds for impeachment, and a trial must be held, and the Ukrainian Constitutional Court has to review it.

Incorrect. He has not been impeached under the Ukrainian Constitution. That is a fact.

Holding a quick vote in the Rada does not remove the sitting President.

I was just thinking that this could be a game changer. The narrative has been that Russia was just going to take back Crimea (which was a gift to Ukraine to apologize for cruelty under the USSR. But if they are going to invade the rest of Ukraine and go all the way to Kiev? That’s really going to make thigs difficult.

Yep, I imagine Warsaw isn't thrilled about this, neither.

Does Presidential impeachment by a show of hands in front of an angry partisan mob really sound legal to you?

Probably, in a parliamentary democracy. How does begging a foreign nation to invade your own look, in terms of legality?

A trial? He immediately took off to a foreign country and asked them to use Armed Forces against his country? Surely now there has to be grounds.

“He was impeached and removed. He has no standing”

That has such a nice ring to it, wish the American people were singing that tune.

They did not follow the constitutional procedure for removing Yanukovich.

His removal was clearly unconstitutional.

The procedure is defined in article 112, and they didn’t follow it at all.

Leaving the country for a week is not a resignation, especially when he explicitly says “I do not resign”.

The constitution is not the final arbiter of what is right and wrong. Jefferson said sometimes revolutions are necessary.

But no way was this a constitutional ouster.

Are you referring to the constitution he wrote for himself, or the previous version?

So it’s not like a mob just forced him out of office- it was a unanimous vote of parliament.

Yanukovych's supporters were driven out of parliament by an angry mob of Soro paid firebomb throwers and the remaining members were surrounded by the same mob of Soros paid firebomb throwers. His removal was hardly legal. It was a stage show.

He was impeached and removed. He has no standing.

So was Zelaya (Honduras) but Obama strongly backed him.

‘Are you referring to the constitution he wrote for himself, or the previous version?’

The articles for removing and replacing the president haven’t changed since 1996.

He was legally elected president and thrown out by a small group of protestors. Can we do that here?
