That plane is on display at the Reagan Presidential Library. Walking through it, you realize just how small an Air Force One it really was.

After my time at the WH I took a civilian job as a security policeman at a Midwest Air National Guard base where I would periodically guard that plane and the one assigned to then Vice President Bush. Yes, they’re much smaller than the 747s that followed them, yet much larger than Truman and Ike’s aircraft. There was a Connie at the Kansas City airport that you could board for a couple of bucks. That is even smaller, although it was state-of-the-art in it’s time.
