SANFORD — Former Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman says he's done fighting in court with Special Prosecutor Angela Corey.
In paperwork filed at the Seminole County criminal courthouse Feb. 20, Zimmerman says he is giving up his promised fight to make the state pay his legal bills.
He's also wants to put an end to his lawyers' fight with prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda, whom they had asked a judge to punish, alleging unethical behavior, including hiding evidence.
If Circuit Judge Debra S. Nelson agrees, that would clear the way for Zimmerman to move forward with his defamation suit against NBCUniversal. A hearing in that case is scheduled Friday.
Zimmerman alleges that NBC falsely portrayed him as a racist....

I hope he sues every single one of the news outlets that misrepresented him.
I’m surprised he didn’t go this route immediately after his trial, instead of wrestling with pigs and churning up a ton of bad publicity on his part.
It says a lot about the legal system that a complaint about ethics took nearly a year with no action taken.
As far as I can tell, that’s his plan. And probably a good one because (A) lawyers will work for contingency on such cases if they smell even a hint of a big payday and (B) no one in this country is going to hire him to so much as run a broom, wash dishes or dig ditches due to the character assassination done to him and the bad publicity they’d receive and (C) selling that painting for $100,000 was a fluke and probably won’t happen again.
It’s too bad he couldn’t make Corey and de la Rionda pay a price but I don’t blame him for cutting his losses. I hope he takes NBC for everything but their socks.
How could his “publicity” be any worse than it already is? He saved a carload of people in an accident and those he rescued were put in fear of their lives such that they wouldn’t appear with him, or did you forget about that incident? There was a bounty on his head, “dead or alive,” for up to one million dollars and no one has been called to account for that. Try putting a bounty on any other person in this country and see how fast you go to jail. The putative president of the United States attacked him in the media and commiserated with his “victim” and the family. The entire Civil Rights/MSM/DNC and Florida RINO machine descended onto him and he now owes several million dollars in legal fees and other expenses. What would you do in his shoes?
Why leave them with their socks?

There must be some good honest souls helping the Zimmerman Family. There has to be some support system. As far as I know, his parents are retired, but even if you are ‘retired’ you still want to go out of the house sometimes, without fearing for your life or your spouses’ life. There must be somebody bringing them food, maybe taking Zim’s mother to the doctor id disguise. Just knowing you can’t go to the grocery store anymore without looking over your shoulder is stressful. Maybe George has a home gym, has his girlfriend cut his hair. George’s brother may be helping too, but then he has been on TV frequently, and is easy to recognize. A whole bunch of somebodies will get a whole bunch of good books out of this misadventure, provided they continue to survive. Would’nt the lefties blow a gasket if a story came out that George ocassionally went shopping in Blackface, as a preferred disquise? Ha!! MSNBC would collectively have an on air nervous breakdown. Then, the following month, after Obots have made complete fools of themselves many times over, some 21 year old New York Times intern confesses to making the whole thing up.
Trayvon Martin's family received a settlement from the insurance company for the apartment complex BEFORE the criminal trial started.
As I recall, his birth mother received half, even though she had minimal contact with Trayvon for about the last ten years.
Why can’t he do both? Why does he have to drop the lawsuits against the state to sue the media whores?
I spent five years going after a slime lawyer. It was worth it to hear them say during the deposition when asked why they did it, “I didn’t think it would come to this.” They ended up declaring bankruptcy.
Lawyers are a protected class. I’m sorry to see Zimmerman give up on Corey. He has allowed evil to continue without penalty. It reinforces my opinion of Zimmerman. Hopefully the IT guy she fired can still nail her. Corey should be disbarred.
Hopefully, he's leaving the suit in such a way that he can re-open it after he's got buck bucks from NBC.

It doesn’t matter that NBC had to edit out an answer to one question an a different subsequent question to make it sound like Zimmerman was saying that Trayvon Martin was a suspicious character because “He's black.”
It doesn’t matter that George Zimmerman had been beaten up whereas Trayvon Martin “didn’t have a scratch on him,” virtually, until Zimmerman fired the shot. Or that an eyewitness quoted Zimmerman as begging for immediate help, or that a former medic testified that his Vietnam service experience was that he could recognize the voices of comrades who screamed for help - and that when he heard the TV replay of the recorded screams he knew it was the voice of his friend George Zimmerman.
It doesn’t even matter that the “Not guilty” verdict of the jury is supposed to be dispositive as the voice of the law.
And on and on. The perspective of “liberalism” is the perspective of “objective” journalism; they are one and the same. Their reply to “It is not the critic who counts” is an emphatic, “Oh, yes it is!! I am ’the critic,” and at the end of the day my criticism will be all that matters! Just watch!” All major journalism - that is, all wire service journalism - is a cabal, outside of which no one would dare flout the laws of libel as NBC has done. Any more than Dan Rather would have dared to double down on the “TANG memos” fraud after it had been exposed, but for his knowledge that all of journalism would circle around him and his lie.
The same phenomenon will be seen in every high profile controversy. The Duke Lacrosse “rape” fraud, for example. “Swift Boating” as a term for lying - without anything more than the virtually unsupported word of John Kerry to controvert the truth articulated by the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. The “outting” of Valerie Plame, and the railroading of Scooter Libby. "The Republicans shut down the government” when Obama refused to sign the budget the Republcans had passed and aggressively set out to inconvenience the public while shutting down nothing he actually wanted to do - contrasted with “Reagan shut down the government” when Reagan refused to sign the budget the Democrats had passed. “It’s only about sex,” and never mind the ultimate disbarring of Bill Clinton for lying to a judge under oath. And it "doesn’t matter” that Obama is patently guilty of everything Nixon was ever accused of doing.
So indeed it ultimately won’t matter even if Zimmerman wins his suit against NBC - he’ll get the paltry $2 million that he’s suing for, and life will go on as usual for NBC et al, but $2 million won’t begin to make Zimmerman and his friends whole for what they have gone through, and will go through in the future. There is only one possible way to actually affect the people who have abused Zimmerman, his friends, and so many others as suggested in the preceding paragraph. Sue the whole kit and caboodle of journalism, sue them for triple damages under RICO, and count on an enormous payday from Roberts, Alito, Scalia, Thomas, and Kennedy having had it up to here with the “objective journalism” fraud.
I have nothing against the First Amendment freedom of the press, I just want it to be tried. I want the abolition of Campaign Finance regulation which should not affect newspapers because of the Constitution - but equally, should not affect anyone else who doesn’t own a printing press yet. And don’t get me started about FCC regulation . . .
I would have directly went into sue mode against NBC. Then Spike Lee, etc. NBC alone could have paid the legal bills, and set him up for retirement. Then, I would have worked my way down the target list, depending on a thorough assessment of how much hurt I could cause.
