“Bad candidates fail regardless of ideology.”

That always has been true, and always will be true (and if a bad candidate does slip in because he pretty much ran unopposed, it will catch up with him eventually and he’ll get kicked out).

"If Cruz tries his usually schtick in Ohio, he is going to get smacked down."

I clicked on this thread just to see if you'd be posting your usual stuff, and here you are. At least you didn't call Cruz a "malcontent" again.

After reading posts on FR for months and all the talk about bad weather, only the diehards showing up, crawling thru glass to vote for his opponent etc, I’m thinking how did Cornyn gather 62 percent?

Cruz is learning from Palin. Palin endorsed some fairly doughy candidates and they didn’t go her way.

If he supports solid people who are actually conservative, and he rolls up victories, he’ll be OK. It isn’t going to happen overnight.

Tea Party saved the House’s bacon last election cycle. The bill is due and like most statists, the GOP-e doesn’t want to pay it.

I’m thinking how did Cornyn gather 62 percent?

That's easy. He had MUCH more money than all the rest combined. He flooded the airwaves, both radio and TV while the others could not. The good news is, he was forced to spend it when he certainly didn't want to.

Also, don't forget that with so few Democrats engaged in primaries, MANY Democrats crossed over to vote in the Republican Senate primary. You gotta know they supported Cornyn!!

Cornyn could have bought 51% in the runoff.

People had false worries about Stockman being taking away in handcuffs before November.

They are trying to do the same with Dan Patrick. 80% of Texas wants Rick Perry’s tuition repealed. I’ll speculate 90% of whites and 40 or 50% of hispanics.

Cruz’s post-primary endorsement of Cornyn

snip

“He’s earned considerable respect in the Senate. We have not agreed on everything, but
we have agreed on the vast majority of issues,” Cruz posted Wednesday on Facebook.
He added that he was “proud” to endorse Cornyn – along with two other GOP nominees:
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott for governor, and George P. Bush for land commissioner.

“My position all along — you and I have had this conversation a hundred
times — is that I’m likely going to stay out of incumbent Republican primaries.
It’s no longer an incumbent Republican primary,” Cruz said. “From Day 1
John Cornyn and I have had a good working relationship. We have been friends.
We have agreed on the vast majority of issues. I think we’re a strong and
effective team working for Texas.”

He noted that even without an endorsement, he did donate to Cornyn’s campaign.
That was last May, when his political action committee sent a $2,500 check.

So does this mean that Cruz will now be sacrificed on the FR altar of ideological purity?

Or will he get the “Palin pass” similar to the McLame endorsement?

Time will tell but I suspect Cruz has his own ‘Cruz Control’ and
isn’t too concerned about the political fallout.

Yieks. It is actually worse then I thought. Why on Earth would Cruz say such lies.

Not by me.

Cruz is playing Chess and the old GOPe 'tard is playing checkers.

If it was beneficial to him, yes. He would love to be senior senator of Texas.
