Was Cornyn’s opponent that strong? From the margins it appeared that Stockman didn’t run a very good campaign.
Nailed it.
Stockman ran a pathetic campaign. He was nowhere to be found. DWAYNE STOVALL clearly did NOT have the resources to mount a serious campaign against McCornyn.
As stated in a previous post, I am going to find it extremely difficult to vote “for” John Wayne McCornyn in the November election. I just can’t bring myself to hold my nose for yet another RINO again.
Cornyn spent tons of $$$ promoting himself as a super conservative who fought ObamaCare.
Stockman came out with so many attention-getting things that just seemed so absurd. He was beginning to sound ridiculous. I don’t live in TX, so I don’t really know him, but I’d say that he thought he could get attention by his antics instead of trying to run on principles and policy. I saw little of that, but lots of grandstanding.
There were few, if any ads for Stockman or Stovall. There were many ads targeting Stockman, but these were paid for by a 3rd party group that was obviously supporting Cornholio. Cornyn's ads all attacked Obama. If the Cornyn of those ads actually existed, I would have been proud to vote for him. FWIW, I voted for Stovall.
The interesting thing was the disparity of the turnout. Abortion Barbie won the 'rat nomination with something like 400,000 votes. Abbott received about a million more votes. The 'rats did not come out for this primary.
None of them ran a statewide campaign. They did not have the money. Only Cornyn did. Texas is a pretty big place.
