Rachel Canning, 18, of Morris Catholic High School, was denied her requests for child support of $654 a week as well as thousands of dollars in attorney fees and immediate reimbursement of her high school tuition.

Morris County Court Judge Peter Bogaard also ruled that Rachel’s parents must keep her on their health insurance policy and keep status quo on all college savings accounts set up for her.

***************

“This whole thing is just destroying our family,” Sean Canning told The Post. “We love our daughter. She’s our pride and joy. The door is wide open. We want her to come home.”

Canning told the newspaper he and his wife have disagreed on typical family issues.

“I’m a liberal, liberal parent,” he said. “I wish I could have grown up in my house. I was tougher on my cops at work than I’ve ever been at my home, that’s for sure.”

Good looking YOUNG girl, although a brat, being supported by a man, lawyer, living in his home - what is in it for him?

Something is really, really fishy and really, really smells.

Why have we not heard a word from the lawyers wife about arrangement- just asking.

what does "keep status quo" on the college savings accounts mean? Do they have to continue to pay into them, thus forcing them to pay for her college?

Part of her suit was to have the contents of those accounts turned over to her.

He's not only supporting this girl he supposedly fronted 12 grand in legal fees to fund this case.

The lawyer was being paid hourly by the father of the girl she is living with.

Too bad she is already 18. The parents could have sued him for interference with custody.

"Part of her suit was to have the contents of those accounts turned over to her."

That still doesn't answer the question. The Judge could have just said "no" to that but she maintained the status quo. Someone else said an additional hearing has been scheduled to determine whether the parents will be required to pay her college tuition. And if so how much - a state college tuition or an Ivy League private college tuition.

I have sympathy for any boyfriend/husband in this girl’s future.

Any young fellow who courts/dates/whatever this female will RUN (not walk) in some other direction shortly after getting to know her.

If he's smart.

She's pretty ... but NOBODY's pretty enough to justify putting up with her kind of crap.

“I’m a liberal, liberal parent,” he said

Well, there's your problem right there. If you'd been a FATHER, then maybe your precious little "pride and joy" would have remained under your authority and protection.

Well, she’d be good for a young male looking for easy sex without commitment, but as a wife - no.

And most young MEN can see that.

(Fathers/mothers - train your boys to recognize a good woman from trouble.)

Proverbs 21:9.
It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife.

Make sure your sons understand it fully.

Actually it does answer the question. The parents retain control of the accounts. The future hearing will determine how they are dispensed.

It’s been reported that she has a $20,000 scholarship to the University of Vermont.

The scholarship application may have listed that account and thus contingent upon it.

Given that the parents weren’t ordered to pay her HS tuition why is there any question of them paying for college? One explanation would be if some of the money did not come from her parents.

Are the parents required to continue contributing to the accounts as per the status quo?

re: Are the parents required to continue contributing to the accounts as per the status quo?

That’s what it sounds like to me.

I predict a future in cam porning for her.

Reading awhile back about the Duke student who was acting in porn to pay her bills, I saw a lot of my prophecies coming true. And believe me, I'm not Madame Olga with a crystal ball, but the future is plain as day.

There will be a lot of spoiled, cynical, amoral women like this brat who will do anything to maintain their lifestyles. Be it acting in porn, be it turning tricks, or finding a sugar daddy. Russian women were notorious for this behavior. The upcoming generation of American girls have no shame.

I’m going with the dictionary definition of “status quo” here.
