With a Vet (with 2 combat tours, no less) in the race, it sure at hell does matter. Shows who is willing to put their life where their mouth is. The Citizen who is willing to make that sacrifice stands head and shoulders above those who shirk the first duty of a Citizen - ensuring the survival of the Nation. Read Heinlein's Starship Troopers for a detailed philosophical discussion on this.

We've been a Volunteer military since what, mid-70s? And weasel-boy Pryor can't be bothered to volunteer to actually serve the Nation (for even a minimum 3-and-out enlistment) that he expects to support his entitlement lifestyle?

Toast, he is. Wrong constituency for trash-talking about Vets.

Full Disclosure: I wrapped up 33+ years (Active & Reserve) about 18 months ago. 3 mobilizations, 1 tour in Afghanistan.
