Obama Sanctions 'Individuals and Entities' Involved in Ukraine Crisis

President Obama "has signed an Executive Order that authorizes sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for activities undermining democratic processes or institutions in Ukraine," according to the White House.

White House spokesman Jay Carney explains in a statement:

"As President Obama has made clear, the United States is pursuing and reviewing a wide range of options in response to Russia’s ongoing violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity – actions that constitute a threat to peace and security and a breach of international law, including Russia’s obligations under the UN Charter and of its 1997 military basing agreement with Ukraine, and that are inconsistent with the 1994 Budapest Memorandum and the Helsinki Final Act.

Seems to me our relationship with Russia was better when Dubya was around. But we were told he was an idiot.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but IF the Clown is going to impose sanctions on “individuals and entities” that interfere with Ukraine’s politics, WHY ARE WE GIVING THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT $1 BILLION?

From my recollection, the current government illegally BOOTED the elected President and put in their own leader....so it seems to me THEY interfered with Ukraine’s government.

Take away the visas from the elite and their families and their kids who are in university here.

Take away the ability to transfer money and use credit cards throughout the world for Russian citizens.

Create problems for the billionaires who keep their money outside Russia. Bitcoin was whisked to oblivion wasn’t it? And just look where Russian money in Crete’s banks went. Blackholes anyone? That’s what government debt is isn’t it?

Dicker with the oil and gas pricing, commodities.

Keep working around the periphery until those who are supporting Putin, the wealthy, decide they have had enough and depose him.

Threatening to dump US Treasuries is an empty threat.

We simply can’t have Kerry traveling the world, stopping in at trouble spots around the globe without our checkbook in his hand. Wouldn’t do at all.

You’ll drive yourself crazy using logic like your post. This is something that needs to be asked of Carney at the next press briefing. It would be delightful to hear him hem and haw over a reply to that..

It is simply amazing what a bunch of Harvard lawyers (graduates) hired by this administration can come up with to make it appear as tho’ the president himself is hard at work solving the worlds problems. In the meantime, the country he was elected to lead goes down the toilet thanks to those same Harvard lawyers (graduates).
