A few days ago, Disney World announced that unless Boy Scouts of America (BSA) changed its policy on openly homosexual scoutmasters namely, they’re not allowed by January 1, 2015, the organization would lose funding from Walt Disney.
The reason is simple Disney says BSA violates the company’s non-discrimination policy:
Disney does not give money directly to the national organization or local BSA councils. However, through its VoluntEARS program, Disney allows employees to do volunteer work in exchange for cash donations to the charities of their choice.
Employees taking part in the VoluntEARS program will no longer be able to submit the funds to the Boy Scouts, the organization said. The new policy will not affect Walt Disney employees who volunteer with the Scouts, the company said.
.
According to Disney’s charitable giving guidelines, groups become ineligible to receive Disney funding if they “discriminate in the provision of services unlawfully or in a manner inconsistent with Disney’s policies on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, national origin, age, marital status, mental or physical ability, or sexual orientation.”
Kudos to the homosexual activist lobby, which has managed to scare Disney into making this move. As a private organization, Disney is of course entitled to withhold money from whatever organizations it chooses to, even if that decision is unwise.
However, this leads to a question: Will Disney also take money from Girl Scouts USA, which does not allow male scout leaders? Discrimination is discrimination, after all, and those men who want to lead girls on scouting trips should be given the same opportunity as women.
It’s a silly question, but so is Disney’s position that not allowing men who have sexual attractions to men to lead boys on scout trips is unfair discrimination.
Then again, this is the same company that is accused of sending money to Planned Parenthood, as well as hiding animal abuse that takes place during filming of its movies, so policies inconsistent with Disney’s official child-friendly corporate theme are hardly unusual.

Guess who’s stock is going to tank.
just banned disney jr at my house. negative impact on the kiddos.
too much smart mouth, duh looks, disrepect of parents.
it isn’t Walt’s disney any longer.
I have an idea.
Lets let all the heterosexual families find something else to do than go to Disney theme parks.
Then let’s let Fred and Fred and Alice and Alice take their kids to Disney.
Let’s see how long that business model flies.
This is how the Left starts. Next, NAMBLA is normal, too.
The country I knew and was born in is unrecognizable now.
There will be consequences...
I agree. We have to do something about all the bigotry. Pedophiles, for example, are born that way. They can’t help it if they love children. Stopping pedophiles from having consensual sex with children (at Disney parks for example) is discriminatory. Who are we to say two, three, or even twenty people can’t create unions with those they love?

“A a well-organized boycott of Disney movies, parks, and merchandise by Christians could put a real hurtin on that company.”
You are 100% correct. Recall how quickly Cracker Barrel reversed its decision on Duck Dynasty merchandise. I noticed once it announced it was removing Duck Dynasty merchandise the number of cars in the parking lot of the local restaurant dropped by at least 30%. Management quickly responded to the drop in patronage determining their real customers were angry.
Also notice that A&E quickly did a 180 as well but didn’t publicly announce it. When flipping through the channels it seems that A&E is playing Duck Dynasty reruns constantly. Consumers have real power if they will use it not to patronize establishments.
A national boycott of Disney (and its TV network ABC) would likely have a significant impact if Christian organizations would join together and execute one. A 10% drop in Disney park attendance and ABC ratings would force Disney/ABC to reassess its policies. Now what Christian group will stand up and take the flack for organizing a boycott? No way the National Council of Churches or any mainline protestant organization will take this on. Same for the Catholic Church.
Welcome to the modern world.
Disney's Frozen won an Oscar, 4 days ago. Been out less than 4 months and already a billion in box office sales worldwide.
The song from that movie, Let It Go, also won an Oscar. The official video has been played 127 million times on YouTube. The Demi Lovato version has been played 90 million times. If you add up all the versions on YouTube, its probably over 300 million plays.
The Mission of the Boy Scouts of America:
“It is the mission of the Boy Scouts of America to serve others by helping to instill values in young people and, in other ways, to prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving their full potential. The values we strive to instill are based on those found in the Scout Oath and Law.”
No part of the Mission statement even mentions raising funds for the BSA Leadership. This should be an easy decision.
Disney is part of the communists Democrats empire. What was expected when they allow gay days at the park.
Hey, leave the coonhound out of this :P
Well, this is a bit sad, I remember my folks taking us kids to disneyland in 1991, and it was a great time, great memories.
My kids will never experience that, because I am not funding openly anti-freedom organizations.
yeah...disney is too big to fail...just like the pensylvania steel industry..when all your customers go away, what then? and when you get so big that you think you can tell your customers what to think, then you start to fail.
disney failed when they started having gay-days at disneyworld. remember - it ain’t the caboose that kills ya, it’s the locomotive, and theirs has come and gone.
Disney, in keeping with its “all gay all the time” theme is introducing remakes of its classics:
Cinderfella
Rump Rangers of the Caribbean
Boy Story
Savaging Mr. Banks
Ram it Ralph
Mars Needs Gays
National Pleasure
Winnie the Poop Chute
That Darn Homo
Coming to a theater near you!
Fagnocchio
Snow White and the Seven Fags
