The USS Truxtun, a U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyer, is heading to the Black Sea for what the U.S. military on March 6 described as a "routine" deployment that was scheduled well before the crisis in Ukraine.
The announcement came a day after Turkish authorities confirmed having given permission to a U.S. Navy warship to pass through the Bosphorus within the next two days.
Also on March 5, the Pentagon unveiled plans to put more U.S. fighter jets on a NATO air patrol mission in the Baltics, moving to reassure allies alarmed by Russia's effective seizure of the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea.

As opposed to a post-planned exercise??
As opposed to us doing a military operation in Russia’s soft underbelly at a time we might be threatening them.
“As opposed to a post-planned exercise??”
So who authorizes this, Joint Chiefs, White House? This is almost as bad as rival gangs driving through enemy neighborhoods in Compton.
Repent, America. World War III is coming...or maybe itwill be one of those asteroids that keep whizzing by... :-)
I hope they keep this one in the deep water!
That's one of my favorites, too. The stupid term often appears in advertisements for funeral homes.
...”routine” deployment that was scheduled well before the crisis in Ukraine.
0’s way of saying...’Please don’t blame this on me, Mr. President Putin sir, I had nothing to do with it’.
My guess is it is a scenic cruise for all the new homosexuals who have crawled out of the woodwork to spread their filth upon our once honorable military. Guess this destroyer could be re-tagged “DD-069 U.S.S.A. Fabulous”
Is there a Tonkin Gulf in the Black Sea?
AFAIK, we don’t deploy to the Black Sea and we don’t do exercises there either.
Since the Ukrainian Navy has been blockaded by the Russian Navy, any incident in the Black Sea will this time be guaranteed to be an act of war by Russia when our ship is sunk.
Pretty serious piece of hardware being deployed..
My ship got right up to the Straits of Bosporus to pick up the helicopter carrier Moskva when it came out of the Black Sea in 1968, but I don’t ever remember any of our ships going into the Black Sea, because it was basically like a Russian lake back then.
