Since writing that some years ago I have had time to reflect and incorporate more of Saul Alinsky into the analysis. Alinsky said, "the fight is never the fight" meaning that the selection of an issue upon which to engage was wholly opportunistic and not motivated by principle. The overriding goal of obtaining power and overthrowing the system justified engaging in any fight resorting to any tactic.
I can think of no more convenient moral philosophy for a narcissist.
