Know your enemy is a great axiom of war - and politics. Whatever we may think of Putin's despotic rule, it is hard not to admire his ability to continually run strategic rings around Western leaders.
As the West's leaders meet to consider how best to 'influence' Russia to leave the Ukraine, they are resigned to considering economic sanctions as the only real option available. They are wrong.
Further, their view is predicated on the belief that Putin genuinely believes in the need to reinstate Ukraine's pro-Russian democratically elected president and protecting the indigenous Russian population. Hence, the public explanation for Russia's seemingly over-the-top belligerent militaristic intervention. The reality is, however, as I will show, this is NOT the reason for the invasion, just a mere excuse for it.
The reason is part of the Kremlin's long-term and officially stated (if you bother to look for it) great game: energy imperialism. That is, recovering Russia's global superpower status via the the chief weapon at its disposal: its oil and energy clout.

Bingo! We have a Winner! This is the explanation.
One of the best one-liners I’ve seen on the whole thing was something along the lines of “Russia is an energy company masquerading as a county.”
“Admiring” Putin is like “admiring” Hitler or the clever exploits of Jack the Ripper. It is disgusting to suggest.
That being said, this is 100% correct on the reason for him invading a sovereign Nation.

Similarly, Saudi Arabia is not a state but a family oil business.
Shale gas in Europe has not yet proven economical.
In Poland, drills keep coming up non-commercial. Large players are leaving Poland.
Ukraine is likely not going to be able to produce much either.
That and US deposits too. When will Obama and liberals self detonate? They seem to eagerly wait for a Kool Aid date of shame.

Well, if they have huge shale gas deposits in Ukraine, it need not stay that way.
The difficulty is, it takes time to build things.
The other issue? How far will Putin go to grab more territory in the Ukraine?
He knows Obozo will do nothing to stop him.
Energy is among the most important national security concerns.
Not only for ourselves but our allies.
To avoid terrible compromises and sacrifices we should increase our energy production and independence.
1) Obama’s war against coal is a national catastrophe. USA has an incredible amount of coal, a big advantage we are just throwing away.
2) Germany’s decision to shut down their nuclear reactors is idiocy
3) We should be dramatically expanding nuclear power (and encouraging allies to do the same) using safer reactors such as the French have.
4) Fracking is creating an oil boom in the USA, despite Obama doing what he can to cripple oil permitting.
A future president should open up more of America to drilling.
