Russia isn’t in a gutless, estrogen-induced vegetable state like America is right now.

“Time for some pipelines to blow if I were Ukrainian.”

Europe buys about one-third of its gas from Russia’s Gazprom. 80% of it comes from Ukraine’s gas lines. Blowing up the lines would plunge a good portion of Europe into darkness. Much of that gas is used to generate power to industry. About 40% of energy generated in the industrialized world is used by buildings, including businesses. With no energy from Russia, the entire economy in Europe would collapse.

And, no, the Europeans can’t go in the backyard, unzip a seam of coal and cook dinner and warm their toes. They have embarked on a concerted effort to fight global warming by shutting down coal plants.

Did they think Putin was going to just sit back and watch while Crimea was turned into a vassal of the EU following an illegal coup in Kiev?

Nope. Massive vote vote fraud and attempted assassinations have already been tried in the Ukraine. May as well annex the Crimea now and go for the Ukraine in due time.

Krushchev ceded Crimea to Ukraine in 1954 or 56. He was, after all, Ukrainian. Up to 1991, Crimea and even Ukraine were under complete control of the Russian-cum-Soviet empire for about 1000 years.

Nonsense. Crimea was conquered by Russia in 1774 (de facto) or 1783 (official). Crimea is economically and logistically dependent on mainland Ukraine and always has been. The Crimean Tatars -- the main residents of the area until Stalin deported them to Central Asia -- overwhelmingly oppose Russian anexation.

They were going to annex Crimea the day they invaded.

Shhhhh - hard for Bozo and company to act like it is an unexpected surprise if we demonstrate that anyone with a brain could see it coming before the first Russian troops started mobilizing.
