From CNN’s website:
“Vietnamese aircraft spots liquid and “rubbish” on surface in overlapping waters of Malaysia and Vietnam, official tells CNN.”
There is no clarification on where the official is from(I assume Vietnam) and no further elaboration on the ‘rubbish’.
It’s now dark over there. Malaysian Airlines has stated, “The sea mission will continue while the air mission will recommence at daylight.”
WSJ Asia reports on their Twitter @WSJAsia:
Vietnam Search Planes Find Twin Oil Slicks, Possibly Jet Engines
Vietnamese search aircraft may have spotted two oil slicks that could be from the jet engines of missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which was a twin-engine Boeing 777 jetliner, the government said on its website.
The search pilots spotted two possible oil slicks each 10-15 kilometers in length, about 500 meters apart, some 140 kilometers south of Tho Chu island off southern Vietnam, the statement said.
Don’t sound like they have too much confidence in finding survivors as nighttime would be the best conditions to see a flare or emergency strobe from the air.
