'Vlad the Great': Putin's Approval Rating Soars in Russia
Breitbart ^ | 03-07-2014 | Joel B. Pollak

Russian President Vladimir Putin may have to endure the stern disapproval of U.S. President Barack Obama, and the occasional insult from German Chancellor Angela Merkel, as a result of his invasion of Ukraine. But at home, his approval ratings have soared to nearly 70 percent, up from just above 60 percent in December. Over 70 percent of Russians support Putin's tactics in the Crimea; fewer than one in five oppose his policy.

The Russian parliament is expected to support Crimean secession, the Wall Street Journal reports, and even some Russian opposition leaders are praising Putin. One quoted by the Journal claims: "If Putin returns Crimea to Russia without blood, he will go down in history as a great, and there's nothing you can do about that." Or, as Charles Krauthammer quipped Friday: "Catherine the Great took Crimea, Vlad (the Great?) won it back."

Yes, and they both have fingers and toes, too.

My point would be that they're both threats to liberty but in different ways.

You like a leader who leads without consent? If so, what’s your favorite form of tyranny and why would you think you’re a conservative?

You have overlooked the fact he was elected, what 5 times? is that not consent?

Perhaps it is your consent that isn’t relevant, that doesn’t matter. That is a completely different kettle of fish. A very narrow view will not even elect Jesus Christ himself because somewhere in there will be some impurity.

And if you believe he’s won free and fair elections, then you’re as gullible as Hillary and her plan to reset relations with Russia.

Even Russian billionaires flee Russia to live away from Putin. For too long, we’ve been unwilling to recognize that Russia is once again a police state. Some misguided “conservatives” think that because Putin is fixated on fags that he’s an Orthodox Christian or something. Putin is just using that issue. If he were so devout of a Christian he could, by ukase, end abortions in Russia. He has not. He’s a threat to freedom, like Obama, but first a threat to the freedom of Russians. Next he’s a threat to Russia’s neighbors. By dredging up revanchist and chauvinistic goals he may appeal to the low information types in Russian and some dumbed down conservatives, but he’s also making the world a very dangerous place.

Why don’t you concern yourself with free and fair elections right here in the United States and leave the internal politics of foreign nations to the people living in them?

Why doesn’t Putin do the same thing and leave the Ukrainians alone? And realize that I will express myself regardless of what you write.

Have people forgotten that just a few weeks ago, Obama was forcing homosexuals on the Russians?

The United States spent $5 billion dollars to meddle in the internal politics of the Ukraine. Why don't you focus you attention on that behavior instead?

And you know the US spent $5 Billion dollars because of what? Where is your evidence? Did you get that from Putin’s propaganda network RUSSIA TODAY? Why do you think it’s okay for Putin to mettle in the Ukraine and for the Ukrainians not to have their say in their fate? Putin was a KGB Colonel when the Soviet Union ran its Gulag. Are you in favor of communism or its morphed version in Russia, Putinism? Putin said that the break up of the Soviet Union was the greatest geopolitical disaster in the history of the 20th Century. Do you agree? Do you work for RUSSIA TODAY?

There parts of Russia that have quite a moderate climate, but you wouldn’t move there if it was our version of perfect weather, unless you prefer living a government that totally controls almost everything.

Or maybe you would prefer also living there because of the various shortages of goods.

As corrupt as American gov’t is, it pales in comparison to the corruption of Russia. Talk to anyone who has lived there and they will laugh at your thinking life is in any way better there.

I have been there and done business there and I know without a shadow of a doubt that you would never prefer life there if you had ever been there.

Sure we did.

Well, I don’t think they are suppressing Christianity and they won’t allow homosexuals to go after children. Those are big pluses to me.

And our government is getting worse and more controlling every day. And I believe shortages of goods will happen as well here. Just give Obama a little more time.

Where is your evidence?

It comes direct from the US State Dept...

Asst. Secretary of State Victoria Nuland speech to the US-Ukraine Foundation December 13 2013.

...now where is your evidence that the Russians were meddling in Ukraine?

They've meddled in Ukraine for hundreds of years. You apparently don't know it.

In other words, you don't have any evidence the Russians were meddling in the internal politics of Ukraine and want to change the subject.

No surprise here.

Russian soldiers are in Ukraine’s country on trumped up charges. I suppose for you that’s not “evidence.” But for most reasonable people you don’t need to get a whole lot more “evidence.”

Do you have ANY evidence that Russia was meddling in the internal political affairs of Ukraine in the period from 2010 until the start of the Maidan protest?

You know the SAME period of time during which the United States was pumping in billions of taxpayer dollars to destabilize the elected government?

I’ll wait.
