Murthy is the 36-year-old president and co-founder of the anti-gun group Doctors for America, which advocates ObamaCare and gun control laws.
His group, which has been dubbed "Docs vs. Glocks," has pushed Congress to ban "assault" weapons and "high-capacity" magazines.

Well, those are the features of almost none of the firearms used in crimes.
But if those features are made illegal, then the mere possession of that firearm will be a crime, which means that feature was used in committing a crime, which means "assault weapon" crime will increase (possession), which will show up as a spike in the statistics, justifying another crackdown...

Don't forget the other half of the equation: jury nullification. We have to educate conservatives on the importance of that power. If any decent person is called for jury duty in a gun rights case, it's important to get on that jury by being truthful but not helpful (think Bill Clinton under oath) and then to vote 'Not Guilty' regardless of the letter of the law. An unjust law is no law, and it's the jury's job to ignore such laws no matter what the judge or an unconstitutional written law may say.
