WASHINGTON IF you cant spell it, you cant get it.
President Obama pulled a Quayle Thursday night at a White House performance by the women of soul and muffed the title of Aretha Franklins anthem. R-S-P-E-C-T, he said, looking a bit confused and eliciting laughter.
When Patti LaBelle took the stage, she told Obama, Baby, youve got swag.
Swag and respect are exactly what the president needs. Hes got a swag gap with Russia. His administration, after belatedly figuring out what was going on in Ukraine, is improvising as the uber-swaggering Vladimir Putin once more rolls in with tanks anywhere he likes.
But the president is severely constrained in how he can respond, given that the Europeans are reluctant to be very punitive because theyre worried about their energy supplies and have to play nice with the bully on their borders.
Hes doing what seems appropriate at this point putting a ban on U.S. visas, imposing financial sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for Russias invasion of Crimea, and trying to horse-whisper the Botoxed, bare-chested man on horseback whose eyes read K.G.B., as John McCain likes to say.

Obama took a hit before the party???
Wow, the Dowdies are turning on Obama. Temporary.
Funny you should ask.
Actually, I usually avoid Dowd threads as a waste of time.
This one seemed as though it may be critical of BO, so I took a peek.
Glad that I did, because I had no idea Mike left her for Catherine.
Great FR rule I was unaware of!
He IS Ron Burgundy. The TOTUS must have had it misspelled.
I heard on the radio the other day (Rush? or Michael Berry?) that Dan Quayle was given a card with potato spelled with an “e” on the end of it. He thought it was wrong but with with that spelling anyway.
If this is true do you think that Quayle was set up?
Probably. And the MSM dumped on Quayle like he was the guy on the grassy knoll. You know, the "republicans are stupid" narrative. So when the big O or Joe "big-f___ing deal" Biden make a gaffe, the MSM is mum.
Patti LaBelle’s bodyguard was the guy that assaulted the young guy in an airport. The young guy was a West Point Cadet which PC West Point pulled the plug on him. Then Patti, “you got swag”, pulled out the overused and fully charged, “race card”. Houston jury PC’d the verdict. If you watched the security video, the Cadet didn’t do a thing except not bow down to Miss LaBelle and her bodyguards. He stood too close to “swag”. Patti conveniently doesn’t remember much after the Cadet “said the N-word”.

It's pure Dowd, in other words.
Michael Douglas left Maureen Dowd for Jones.
I did not know that. I wonder if there is a link between Dowd and his recent medical problems.
Yup!
What Obama has is sashay!
Thanks for clarifying that for me, I'm not up on gay terminology so wasn't sure what swag meant. I was going to go with stupid wild ass guess.
Oh I'm sure he went to college, all the best drugs are there, but attend classes?
Another day, another example of Obama acting oh so presidential.
Pulled a Dan Quayle?
Quayle had a three syllable word. Obama only had a two syllable word. Once again, the bar was set a lot lower for the Democrat and he slid under it with room to spare.
One toke over the line...]

The MSM gave Obama a pass when he flubbed how many ‘states’ were in the United States... They gave him a pass on Obamacare, Benghazi, having the IRS target conservative groups... The real story is the same - the press is a bunch of liberal butt kissers.
The oddity here is Dowd mentioned Obama’s gaffe. That's unusual. Man bites dog. Normally the New York Times ignores and suppresses anything that might make a liberal look bad.
