That’s not likely to happen. If we do end up with single payer, only the insurance aspect of it will be socialized.
Health care will continue to be delivered privately like in Canada and people who want more than the basic plan can pay a doctor in cash.
And that’s important for people so sick that being on a waiting list effectively condemns them to die.
I think we’re headed in the direction of a hybrid public/private health care system. Pure single payer won’t work in this country and people should still have options available to them.
That is the endgame, property confiscation.
I remember Al Gore once said that property should revert back to the state so that your children could re-purchase it if they wanted it (by working their entire lifetime). I don’t recall one network featuring that quote or anybody talking about it afterwards. I am sure he has trusts and monies set aside for his progeny (unlike what he has in mind for the common folk).
