Paper reveals Iranian-link in ticket purchase for passengers with stolen passports

The Malaysian Insider

The Financial Times exclusively reported that a Thai travel agent who booked the tickets for the men said she had been asked to make the travel arrangements by an Iranian contact.

Travel agent Benjaporn Krutnait, booked the tickets through a business contact whom she only knew as "Mr Ali". She said that his first request to book cheap tickets to Europe for the two men was made on March 1.

She told The Financial Times that it was quite common for people to book tickets through middlemen who then retake a commission.

Ali had asked for the cheapest route to Europe for his clients and did not mention the specific booking Kuala Lumpur-Beijing - unlikely behaviour by would-be terrorists.

Benjaporn initially reserved one of the men on a Qatar Airways flight and the other on Etihad. But the tickets expired when Benjaporn did not hear back from Ali.

The Financial Times said when Ali contacted her again on Thursday, she rebooked the men on the Malaysia Airlines flight through Beijing because it was the cheapest available.

A friend of Ali paid Benjaporn cash for the tickets, the paper reported, adding that there is no evidence that Ali knew the two men were travelling on stolen passports.

Benjaporn made the bookings through a China Southern Airlines office in Bangkok.

The two passengers were supposed to fly from Beijing to Amsterdam on Saturday. The passenger travelling as "Luigi Maraldi" was to fly on to Copenhagen and "Christian Kozel" to Frankfurt.

Then why haven’t they taken credit yet? Seems they would be dancing in the streets (again) if they were responsible.

If this is so... and Iran (whom are probably friendly with China) is behind this, justification to attack. Interesting.

I would doubt Iran would take responsibility for “State-Sponsored” Terrorism. It’s just we know that they do do that.

It doesn’t follow the pattern of a terrorist attack. No mention of increased chatter by intel services. No group is claiming it did it. The pilot failed to check in an our into the flight nearly 1 1/2 hours before the flight vanished. Very strange.

Gotta be space aliens.

but from reading the article, i did not get that this is what they are saying... seems they are saying the stolen passports are not necessarily related to a terrorist attack... ugh! i wish they would be more committed to what they are saying... so much non-committal speak! i get why they do it, but it is aggravating...

Would the 20 people from the tech firm be able to build a trigger for a nuke?

I agree - frustrating. Where most of us were taught to speak clearly there is actually a “school” teaching PR folk to be as vague as possible.

I’m waiting for some accusation of “racism” re: the “not looking Asian” comments.

My made up conspiracy theories for my next book.

1. Israel. The men traveling under false passports where Iranian Nuclear scientists traveling to North Korea via China.

2. The plane was never shot down. Instead it was reported to be shot down so the Iranian spies could be captured without creating an international diplomatic spiff.

This could have been a trial run, take the plane, land it somewhere, kill all the passengers, do a nice paint job on the plane and away they go..I find it almost impossible for investigators not to have found something, anything from that plane..now they are saying the oil slick had NOTHING to do with this plane..I have no doubt this was terrorism related

I’m waiting for some accusation of “racism” re: the “not looking Asian” comments.

on another thread, i read this in the posted article:

“Can’t these immigration officials think? Italian and Austrian [passport holders] but with Asian faces,” Hamidi fumed.

that was when they thought the passport holders were Asian... but if the immigration officials were to question the passport holders because they looked Asian and not Italian and Austrian, wouldn't that be racial profiling? we cannot have that, right? (i was being sarcastic)...

Makes a person wonder if Iran was trying to use a jumbo jet to deliver an EMP, a nuke or germ warfare to an American asset, like Hawaii? Or a US fleet base?

Who was on board, and who thought they needed killing?

Did any of the 5 passengers who checked in but didn’t board, check luggage?

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.)—a Republican member of the bipartisan “Gang of Eight” who co-sponsored the Senate immigration bill and was one of 14 Republicans who ultimately voted for it—was unaware that his own bill allows a person to forge up to two passports without penalty.
