Sharyl Attkisson Resigns from CBS News
Poitico ^ | Monday, March 10, 2014 | Dylan Byers

CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson has reached an agreement to resign from CBS News ahead of contract, bringing an end to months of hard-fought negotiations, sources familiar with her departure told POLITICO on Monday.

Attkisson, who has been with CBS News for two decades, had grown frustrated with what she saw as the network's liberal bias, an outsized influence by the network's corporate partners and a lack of dedication to investigative reporting, several sources said. She increasingly felt like her work was no longer supported and that it was a struggle to get her packages on television.

At the same time, Attkisson's own reporting on the Obama administration, which some staffers characterized as agenda-driven, had led network executives to doubt the impartiality of her reporting. She is currently at work on a book -- tentatively titled "Stonewalled: One Reporter's Fight for Truth in Obama's Washington" -- which addresses the challenges of reporting critically on the Obama administration.

Feeling increasingly stymied and marginalized at the network, Attkisson began talking to CBS News President David Rhodes as early as last April about getting out of her contract. Those negotiations intensified in recent weeks, and her request was finally honored on Monday.

Reached by phone, Attkisson described her resignation as "amicable." She said she will now turn her attention to the book, which is being published by HarperCollins (and not by Simon & Schuster, a division of CBS Corporation.) She declined to comment further.

Sonya McNair, the senior vice president for communications for CBS News, said in a statement: “CBS News veteran Sharyl Attkisson is leaving the news division to pursue other endeavors. We appreciate her many contributions and we wish her well.”

But Attkisson had become a polarizing figure at the network, sources there said...

Now she can dump all her unwanted news where it will be reported. I cannot wait to find out what CBS rejected from this great reporter.

Good point! "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?" Perhaps The Sheryl knows...

If Fox is smart, they’ll sign her today.

If she's smart she was ALREADY talking with FOX BEFORE she resigned.

Win Win. I’m sure CBS was looking for excuses to fire her.

In other words she wasn't just another simpering, Obama worshiping fool so she had to go. She had the audacity to actually shed some light on the deception, fraud and corruption being played on the American people.

Just imagine if she were in a position to actually report ALL the truth about our communist leader imposter.

Oh dear. Clearly she failed to worship hard enough at the "Church of Barack's Saintliness" (CBS)

But, but she doesn’t come from the special, secret breeding farm Roger Ailes maintains on a clandestine island in the South Pacific for Fox News babes, as reported by Rush.

She doesn't need to! B^)

I'm beginning to believe FNC leans farther to the gay/Left than I'd like, were I Atkisson.

Besides that, who is there on FNC that would take the spot of her counter point, O'Reilly, ?

If you wanted to turn a news network around she, Goldberg, and stossel would be a good start.

I think we need a real news network with objective, un afraid investigative journalists and objective news reporting of government, politics, and foreign affairs.

I would add a real science program on environment, military, space, and issues like global warming.

I think the public would eat it up.

If I had a couple of billion or so I would buy cnn and head in that general direction.

She did a great job on Fast and Furious. I was surprised at the time that CBS didn’t stop her reporting. But I had the sense that they only let her go so far before they put on the brakes. I’m sure there were a lot of arguments behind the scenes.

She’s an attractive woman and should have no problem getting on with Fox News if she so desires.

Of course there is no liberal bias and she is lying!

Just look at all the other reporters who successfully put anti-obama stories on the air at her network...

Let’s se there’s .... um.... ah,...

well I am sure there is one

I'd GUESS she would do a deal with the NYTimes or WaPost.

She considers herself a "genuine reporter" in that sense and would likely sacrifice a little money and freedom for that "validation".

She's never spoken out of turn (slammed her employer" and, given her superior credentials and history she's likely "eligible".

But, she'd make a LOT more money and have a LOT more journalistic freed at Fox.
