Weather finally getting warmer, although light snow is expected later. Hope it doesn’t interfere with my plans to go to Chicago for Purim.

I spent four months there in 1975 for my MOS training. Even though it was an Army base, there was a small USMC and Navy SeaBee detachment.

It was kind of interesting. The small arms instructors were a mix of Army and Marine.

Good evening, Connie....I am off for home. Have to put my Mom’s computer back together, then I’ll be back.

Took it and got more memory put in it today.

I live a mile from the entrance. The Ordnance Museum is closed. Everything was moved including the old tanks.

I coach a high school robotics team that meets at APG in a new STEM outreach center. I’m one of the few coaches that does not work there.

My kids love it when big stuff goes BOOM and shakes up the house.

Last I saw, the big coastal defense gun was still there on the corner where you turn to drive down to CERDEC.

The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM) moved to APG a few years ago as a result of the 2005 BRAC. CECOM was previously located at Fort Monmouth, NJ, which was closed. The same BRAC round also directed the move of the Ordnance School, and the Museum, to Fort Lee, Va.

Yup. I was there for 2171 school.

One rainy day in March after the snow was all gone, I marched the troops out into a field and we did calisthenics in a big puddle.
Then we played football in the mud until dark.

We still talk about that game.

The Army canon cockers wouldn’t play us.

Possibly the greatest place name in America “The Aberdeen Proving Ground”, well maybe second greatest after New York, New York, it’s a contest in my mind.
