Sarah Palin fired up thousands of conservative activists who came to hear her give the closing speech of the Conservative Political Action Conference outside Washington, D.C. this weekend.
Palin hasnt held elected office since she resigned as Alaska governor in 2009. But at this gathering of 11,000, she was an A-list star. The wind-up included a video montage of her greatest hits and tributes, and an introduction by NRA Executive Director Chris Cox.
Does anybody here love Sarah Palin? Cox asked, getting a loud cheer. Now, if I walked out there and asked 100 of you why you love Sarah Palin, Id probably get 100 different answers.
He suggest a few but barely mentioned her stint as governor of Alaska. Even her run for the vice-presidency, which first put her on the national stage, is not her claim to fame now. Instead, the introduction focused on her superstar clout, her ability to raise the profile of far-right candidates like Ted Cruz of Texas, who says he owes his seat in the U.S. Senate to her. Her celebrity, and how she uses it, is itself celebrated.
Then Palin took the stage, and for 45 minutes, she slammed President Obama and all he stands for, as well as mainstream Republican members of Congress who she says ran from the fight. The crowd rose to its feet over and over. Some fans, too far away to see the stage clearly, took pictures of the rooms video monitors when her face came on the live feed.
Way in the back, one hand waved a tri-corner hat in approval. William Temple, of Brunswick, Georgia, came dressed head to toe as a solder from the Revolutionary War.
I LOVE Sarah Palin, he gushed. Temple admitted he had an ulterior motive for coming to the gathering. He wants Palin to sign the Dont Tread on Me flag he carried into the convention center on an 8-foot flag pole. Hes been trying for years.
They spirit her out of the room every time I get close. They secrete her out of the room. And I understand that. But yes I desperately need her signature on my Tea Party flag, he said.
Chelsey Riehl, a student from Grand Rapids, Michigan, says she appreciates Palins frankness, her lack of filter.
I think she definitely has more passion than other people and doesnt really hold back on her opinion. And I think thats part of the reason why some people do look down on her, but why so many other people really enjoy her as well, Riehl said.
But Palins speech left Anna Chapman of Columbia, South Carolina, skeptical. Chapman says it was funny, in a late-night comedy kind of way.
I dont think she made a whole lot of sense, though. Im going to be honest. I love her. I think shes a good role model, a good face for the Republican Party. But I just think she sounded a little too kooky, Chapman said.
Judging by the crowd reaction, it seems hers was minority view.
Enthused Palin bump.
So much a better person than Hillary!
Anna Chapman is a student at University of South Carolina who blew the whistle on Ronald Reagan textbook:
I so wish Sarah were in the Senate! I hope she gets back into running for office at some point. She’s fearless!
Sarah apparently really upset Mika! LOL
MSNBCs Mika Brzezinski calls Sarah Palin a multi-million dollar moron
Scarborough is the epitome of a chump.
We get Morning Joe at 3am here. Sometimes when I am in the weird state between waking and sleeping, I’ll watch her on the television, taking her sweater on and off, to show off her biceps, and being the only one on the panel, no one responds to, and when dad is mentioned, she turns to mush. They don’t seem to realize anyone is watching that early in the morning. It’s like they are talking only amongst themselves, so Mika really is herself: petulant, whiny, at turns the serious news reader, at other times, staring cross-eyed at Joe, trying to figure out what he is saying.
I wonder if Mika would agree to a debate with Sarah? Me thinks not because deep down she knows she’d be creamed and made to look the fool she is.
Never happen. Mika thinks, speaks and argues by feelings alone. She only wishes she were an airhead. It’s a vacuum.
Probably not worth saying twice.
Sarah would be great in the Cruz/Scott (Tom) cabinet.
WTF is Tom Scott?
And then that incredible skank "Mika" calling Sarah a million dollar moron.
Exactly what did Sara ever do to "earn" being called a "moron?" Saying that she could see Russia from her back yard? 9 out of 10 useful idiot, leftist dems (including, I'm sure, those two brain-dead creeps) don't realize that it was Tina Fey on SNL who said that, NOT Sarah Palin. Or maybe at a Tea Party rally, when Sara said "... party like its 1773," and those leftist snobs just yukked it up, about how Sarah didn't realize it was 1776! Only the Boston Tea Party WAS in 1773!
Yes, Barnicle and Mika, you ignorant SLUTS, where to you get off calling ANYONE a moron! Go pound sand!
