Stand Your Ground Could Spark Boycott (Sharpton, Trayvon's parents, etc.)
Capitol News Service ^ | March 10, 2014 | Mike Vasilinda

More than a thousand people marched on the state Capitol today demanding a repeal of Stand Your Ground legislation. When they left, they left with a threat.

Led by the Reverend Al Sharpton, police estimate 1200 people came from as far as Miami with a common goal.

“We’re trying to amend the Stand Your Ground law,” said Virginia Lawrence of College Park, GA. “Can you imagine all the injustice?”

On stage, Congresswoman Corrine Brown (D-Jacksonville) called the state and Stand Your Ground “stuck on stupid.”

Trayvon Martin’s mother said she would not let her son die in vain. “Right is right and wrong is wrong,” said Trayvon Martin’s mother Sybrina Fulton. “Stand Your Ground is absolutely, positively wrong. And it has to be changed.”

And the mother of the Jacksonville teen killed over loud music said change must come. “It was a shady law known as Stand Your Ground that robbed his father and I of any hope for justice,” said mother of Jordan Davis, Lucia McBath.

The Reverend Al Sharpton told the crowd that Florida is “standin’ on shaky ground.” He said he’s here because this is where Stand Your Ground began. “It started in Florida. And we’ve come to start the ending of it in Florida.”

The biggest surprise came at the end: A call for boycotting two of Florida’s largest companies, Disney and Tropicana. That’s because the two support the group that pushed Stand Your Ground.

“And the small world is gon’ start crumblin’ down,” said Rev. Jamal Bryant. “And Tropicana, you gon’ feel the squeeze.”

As this was wrapping up, organizers say this was more than a march, this was a launch.

Organizers say they’ve given the companies until April 4th to help support the repeal or face the consequence. They chose that date in particular because it’s the day Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated.

They keep mentioning “Stand Your Ground.” How is that in any way relevant to the events in question?

What kind of person runs out and trademarks their son’s name?

A race pimp who'd do anything for an easy buck.

So if Sharpton is out in public, he can be robbed or assaulted and he won’t defend himself?

GA FReeper ping.

If I had known about this, I’d have thought about counter-protesting.

Mea culpa, I misread this. One of our “activists” from College Park was with the idiots down in FL, this wasn’t in GA.

The stupid and ignorance is on intense display here. It is sad to watch these people being played. They cannot possibly know that Stand Your Ground was not used in the Zimmerman defense...

ALL of them - from Sham-ton to Trayvon's mother - know 'stand your ground' was NOT used.

But think about it - how would it look if these people marched against a person's right to defend themselves?

Even the liberal elite butt kissers in the MSM wouldn't be able to cover for that for that one... Really, what would NBC or Chris Matthews say? "It's wrong - and RACIST - for white people - even white hispanics - to defend themselves if a black man is on top of them beating their head against concrete."

NBC and Matthews might want to say that but I doubt they could...

Good luck with that one Virginia. GA just loosened gun laws. Our legislature is decidedly pro gun and the South is historically a gun culture. A few libtards are not changing that.

So if they keep SYG Al Sharpton and his people will stay away? Sounds like a win/win to me.

“ALL of them - from Sham-ton to Trayvon’s mother - know ‘stand your ground’ was NOT used.”

The news claimed that there were over a thousand present, so I am sure there were at least a couple of hundred.

I suspect quite a few of them are “useful idiots”.

I suspect quite a few of them are “useful idiots”.

Democrats can tell lies about "Zimmerman' being 'stand your ground' because so many of their low information voters really are low, low, low information voters.

That said, it's insulting that democrats would treat their own voters that way... they should give them the dignity of telling them the truth. When democrat lie like this to their own voters - it makes them look stupid or gullible.

And apparently their blacks guaranteed "D" voters are too stupid to realize how they're being mocked and manipulated.

SYG is _not_ a license to kill, as these idiots portray it.

“Stand your ground” is a reminder to the STATE that if one is justified in using deadly force on another, retreat is not an option ... and the state has no standing to object.
