Having an Iranian passport really limits which countries will give you a visa, especially if you haven’t travelled much. And, there can be rather long wait to get a visa to anywhere in europe, even if you get one.
So, getting a visa to anywhere out of Iran, especially somewhere you may have (or think you may make) some sort of a connection, can be the 1st step in trying to emigrate or seek asylum in a european country.
I don’t know. The one on the right is setting off my GAYDAR. Maybe they just didn’t want a neck-first lift from a big crane and were trying to get away.
