Co-pilot was 27 years old.
Age & inexperience do matter.
I agree
I would much rather have a bunch of 50 year olds than 20 year old idiots
Not too many people have noticed, but when the airline claimed that the pilots in the cockpit had "20,000" hours of experience, the MENSA media did not bother to clarify.
The Captain, 18,000 hours.
The First Officer (co-pilot) 2000.
Say wut?
Iirc the pilot of the USN EP-3 Orion who successfully landed his aircraft following a mid air collision in what became known as the “Hainan Island Incident” was 26.
Paul Tibbets was all of 30 when he piloted the Enola Gay on the first atomic bomb mission.
It’s not really age and experience, but rather training and maturity that matter.
